Irregular admission: JAMB, NUC threaten to sanction varsities by jadoo51(m) : 6:03 am On Sep 07, 2022 |
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and three regulatory agencies for tertiary education in the country - the National Universities Commission and National Board for Technical Education - have stated that they will sanction institutions selling application forms for the conduct of 2022/2023 admissions. The PUNCH learned this information. Our correspondent learned that the move was intended to reduce the number of irregular admissions made by institutions. According to the PUNCH, the conduct for admissions in 2022/2023 began in August 2022. JAMB then pegged the deadline at December 31, 2022. Though some institutions are yet to commence the admission processes, JAMB said it would sanction institutions that sell application forms to candidates. The board directed that all applications must be routed through the Central Admissions Processing System. In a document titled, “Serialisation of guidelines for the 2022 admissions exercise,” which was made exclusively available to our correspondent on Monday, the board noted that it was working alongside the three regulatory agencies for tertiary institutions. “All applications of admissions to First Degree, National Diploma, National Innovation Diploma, and the Nigeria Certificate in Education into Full-Time, Distance Learning, Part-Time, Outreach, Sandwich, etc., must be processed only through JAMB.” |
