Ahmed Ammani (Enugu State Commissioner of Police) has directed the investigation into an Assistant Superintendent Of Police (ASP), in relation to the alleged sexual assault of a teenager held in custody.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson for the state police command, stated that the ASP was serving at the Awgu Police Division (Enugu State) and that the commissioner directed the state Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Departments to conduct an investigation and report on the allegation.

He said that although the alleged assault occurred on March 18, 2022, it was brought up by the family of the 17-year-old detainee only recently.

“The commissioner further directed that the investigation be concluded within the shortest possible time. He assured that the case would be given the deserved attention and that the ASP or any other person or persons found culpable, would be appropriately sanctioned.’’ Ndukwe stated
