On Thursday, August 18, the Adamawa State Police Command arrested a 25-year-old man accused of killing two of his children (age 3 and 5 in Himikidu Community, Michika Local Government Area).

Elisha Tari (a Michika Local Government Area resident) was accused of killing the victims using stones and sticks. He had previously used them to repeatedly hit their heads with rocks and sticks. The grandfather of the victims reported the incident to the Michika Divisional Police Headquarters.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim's mother got separated from the suspect two months ago after they had a misunderstanding. The suspect was arrested while trying to escape to Cameroon and is currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation to ascertain the reason behind the murder of his children.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the state Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, expressed his sadness over the sad act and has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police CID to take over the investigation and ensure prosecution of the suspect to serve as deterrent to others.
