Popular NIgerian singer, Daniel Benson, who is also known as Buju or BNXN, has recently taken to his social media page to reveal that he did not literally spit on the face of a Nigerian police officer and that the statement was an Idiomatic expression which meant he disrespected a police officer to his face. The singer shared the tweet on his Twitter page on Thursday, 18th of August 2022.

According to the chain of tweets shared by the singer, he said that the tweet he earlier made and deleted about spitting on the face of a police officer was an Idiomatic expression. Buju said that the expression idiomatically means that he disrespected a Nigerian Police officer to his face.

The singer went on to say that the statement was not literal, the way people have taken it on social media. He further to say that he does not support violence and that he would never also support any abuse against the Police in any form.

While narrating the situation he got himself into that led to a face-off between him and some police officers in Lagos state, Buju said that he was in a life-threatening situation and that made him to lash out on the police officers due to the alleged physical assault on him.

The singer, however, said that the Police officers have been brought to book and that he does not want anyone to take his deleted tweet seriously. Buju said that all he wants to do now is to focus on his music, which is the most important thing to him at the moment.

The singer while concluding his tweet thanked everyone for their love and concerned, while also appreciated the reputable police officers who swiftly intervened in the situation when the event happened.
