Vigilante group nabs two robbery suspects in Bayelsa

Two suspect criminals were arrested by Bayelsa State Vigilante officers in connection to a robbery attempt against a trader at Yenagoa's Swali Market.

John Clement (22) of Ekeremor, and Austin Godsown (33) were arrested while robbing Edet, who hails from Akwa Ibom.

The victim described his ordeal and said that the suspects had threatened to shoot him if he didn't hand over his valuables.

One of the men pretended to be carrying a gun and threatened to throw me out if I didn't give him everything. While they spent more than 10 minutes talking to me, passersby didn't suspect I was being robbed. He explained.

The Chairman of the State Vigilante Service, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who confirmed the development pointed out that the suspects were arrested following a tip-off from someone inside the market noticed what was happening and came out to inform us and that was how we were able to intervene and arrested them on the spot.

The suspects have since been handed over to A Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command, for further investigation.
