An Oyo State High Court has dismissed a suit filed by Mr. Rauf Olaniyan, the state Deputy Governor.

A few weeks ago, the Oyo State House of Assembly initiated an impeachment proceeding against the deputy governor.

DAILY POST recalls Olaniyan later approaching the court to stop lawmakers from impeaching his wife.

However, the court dismissed the suit by the deputy governor.

Justice Ladiran Akintola presided over the proceedings and dismissed them on Thursday.

According to the court, the legislature has the right to remove the Deputy Governor from office.

Akintola, while delivering his verdict on Thursday, said that the House of Assembly had not violated the constitution's provisions regarding the removal of a governor/deputy governor.

Akintola claims that the legislators complied substantially with Section 188 of the Constitution regarding the removal process.

The court ruled that the legislature should continue the process of removing the statues.
