Isaac O. Akinmoyede, Zone 9 Assistant Inspector General, and Okezie Ikpeazu Governor, Abia State have taken steps to ensure smooth celebrations of Eid-el Kabir after 2022.

The AIG Zone 9 directed the Commissioners of Police of Abia, Imo, and Ebonyi to implement adequate security measures in the area for Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

He directed that security arrangements be maintained over public holidays declared by the Federal Government Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th of July 2022, and any subsequent.

The AIG also assured the Zone residents that "The Police will continue its partnership with the various stakeholders and sister security agencies to provide quality service for peace and well-being for all."

Similarly, the state Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu restated the determination of his administration “to deal decisively with those who are behind the spate of criminality and kidnappings around Umunneochi LGA and its environs”, and assured all citizens of the state of equal treatment irrespective of tribe and religion.

In their separate messages of goodwill to all Muslims in Abia State and police Zone 9 on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-kabir, Ikpeazu described the occasion as “a time to remember and commemorate Allah’s great sacrifice for the world and urged Muslims in the State to imbibe the lessons and virtues of sacrifice, forgiveness, and love for one another”.

He further assured that his administration shall continue to uphold the rights to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion of every citizen by respecting their rights to worship provided that such rights will be exercised lawfully and in accordance with prevailing laws.

In his own Sallah message to the Muslim faithful in the zone, the AIG prayed that Allah accepts their sacrifice and prayers for the peace of the zone and Nigeria, as he also congratulated the Muslim ummah for the peaceful and successful celebrations.
