Kano State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has warned motorists to take extra care during rainy seasons to avoid any road traffic accidents.

Zubairu Mato, the Sector Commander, made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Kano.

He advised drivers to buy quality tyres and check their trafficators, wipers, and other lighting systems in order to keep their vehicles in top condition.

"When it rains heavily, roads can become very slippery and visibility is poor.

Mato reminded motorists to be aware of potholes, and pedestrians crossing roads.

He explained that FRSC would visit motor parks to warn commercial drivers not to speed or drive dangerously on highways in order to prevent road traffic accidents.

The sector commander said that the command would continue to fill potholes on roads as part of its community service. Construction companies will also be involved to prevent road accidents.
