Suleiman Abubakar Gumi (member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara State) said that bandits had so far seized over 30 communities from Zamfara State.

Gumi made this statement on Tuesday, June 28th while moving a motion to require the military to send more troops into the affected areas of the state in order to stop the rising bandit attacks.

It is worth recalling that Mada District, Gusau Local Government Area Zamfara, was evacuated by bandits following the new attacks last week.

According to Gumi, bandits attacked several communities, killed 16 people, injured many others, rustled cattle, destroyed property, and set police stations and food silos ablaze.

He stated that residents from around 71 villages had fled to safety, while farmers abandoned their farms in search of safety.

He claimed that the bandits had imposed levies on the members of the community and demanded ransom money from those they kidnapped.
