Justice Mohammed Sifawa, Sokoto State High Court, has sentenced Yakubu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Yakubu each to 10 years imprisonment on a single count charge of fraudulent deception and obtaining more than N5 million through false pretense.

A statement by the spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, said the duo had with intent to defraud, represented themselves to the petitioners as possessing the power of doubling money through the invocation of "juju" and collected N5, 612, 000.00 from them.

The statement states that the offense is against Section 310 of Sokoto State Penal Law 2019, and is punishable under Section 311 thereof.

The defendants pleaded guilty.

S.H Saad, the prosecution counsel, prayed the court's approval to convict them and sentence them accordingly.

Justice Sifawa found the defendants guilty and sentenced them each to 10 years imprisonment. They were also required to pay N5, 612 000 each to their victims through the EFCC.

Further, the Judge directed that all exhibits used in the commission and prosecution of the offense by the convicts be destroyed by EFCC.
