Detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department Lagos have arrested Rafiu Rahaman "m" aged 29. He was a member of Lagos Waste Management Authority in Lagos and was accused of faking his kidnapping.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin (spokesman for the Lagos state police command), Rahaman made a fake kidnap and traveled to Lugbe Abuja, where he recorded a video of himself being held captive. This was then sent to his coworker.

According to the police spokesperson, Rahman's accomplice Usman Sheidu (32 years old) who demanded Five million Naira ransom but only received One Hundred and Fifty thousand Naira after intensive negotiation was also arrested.

"Investigations reveal that Usman Sheidu, who was taken into custody in Abuja, conspired to stage the kidnap. He also made the ransom video. Usman also admitted to sharing the ransom with Rahaman, and used his part in purchasing a generator and other items. At the end of investigations, suspects will appear in court. "Hundeyin"

He said that CP Abiodun Alabi (the state Commissioner of Police) has vowed to make sure that criminals are caught and punished.
