The Katsina State Police Command has destroyed a notorious network of armed robbers and motorcycle snatchers who strangle their victims using cable wires.

SP Gambo Isah (spokesperson for the command), disclosed the information in a statement that was made on Thursday, June 9th. He stated that the robbery syndicate was specialized in the murder of commercial motorcycle riders and stealing their bikes.

"On the 5/06/2022, at approximately 2200hrs, command succeeded in arresting Yahaya Muntari ('M'), aged 23 years of Ruma village. Batsari LGA, a notoriously armed robber, and a motorcycle snatcher who specializes in luring unsuspecting motorcycle riders to lonely roads strangled them with motorcycle clutch wire, killed them, and stole their motorcycles," read the statement.

"Nemesis snatched the suspect from Anti kauraye's police patrol team. They were on routine patrol along Batsari Road behind KTTV. There, they lured Abdullahi Bello, 22 years old, of Dantsauni village in Jibia LGA a commercial motorcycle rider, and strangled him using a cable wire.

The victim was saved by the police and was taken to the General Hospital for treatment. The suspect admitted to having killed many victims using the same method of operation during the investigation. He also mentioned Abubakar Musa, alias Abu Abu-Abu, aged 17 years of Unguwar Abba Jaya, and Zaharaddini, alias Zaharaddini, aged 25yrs, Unguwar Tsamiya as being members of his syndicate.

"All suspects were arrested and have confessed to the offense. Investigations are ongoing to find other members of the syndicate."
