The Nigerian Police Force confirmed that four police officers were arrested for extorting a man named Uche Anthony N300,000. They did this on Wednesday, June 1.

The policemen were alleged to have cocked their guns on the victim and forced him into an Automated Teller Machine, (ATM), along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way in Ikeja to withdraw N280,000. They also added N20,000 cash to his account and took it with them.

Anthony claimed that he was being extorted by police officers after they found that he had foreign numbers and a finance technology app on his phone.

CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Police Public Relations Officer (FPPRO), later contacted Lagos command to demand an investigation into the claims.

Adejobi confirmed that the police officers responsible for the extortion were identified and arrested.

He stated:

"He reported, and we identified them in Ikeja Area F. For proper investigation and sanction, we have summoned their team leader to Abuja."
