Abdullahi Adamu the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress. He stated that the party was not pleased with the outburst by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, one of its presidential aspirants in Abeokuta last Thursday, June 2.

Adamu suggested that Tinubu could be sanctioned while speaking to journalists in Abuja at the APC National Secretariat on Saturday, June 4, 2005.

"We may sanction him (Tinubu), for his remarks against the President.

Tinubu went so far as to claim that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari visited him. He cited instances where Buhari was even seen crying and asking him to support him. He said Buhari visited him.

He is president but he belongs to everyone. It's amazing that a fellow APC member would make such a comment about the president in these circumstances. This is something we disagree with. It has proven that he doesn't show any appreciation for the office and Mr. President.

We are sorry for what we saw in that video and reportage, and we strongly condemn it.

We hope that he will never make that kind of comment again, especially regarding the APC extraction.

Yes, we did see some retraction yesterday but it is not enough. It's not sincere. It's not deep enough. "It doesn't erase the impression that this event left in our minds," Adamu said

Remember that Tinubu was campaigning for President Buhari in Abeokuta when he stated that he should lead the election. Many saw his speech as disrespectful to the President.

Tinubu, however, stated that he regards President Buhari highly in a statement he released Friday, June 3. Tinubu said that his remarks were not intended to insult President Buhari and had been taken out of context.
