Veteran Nigeria rapper, Jude Abaga, known professionally as MI, has reacted to the incessant crises between his Jukun tribe and the Tivs.

The 40-year-old expressed willingness to work to bring lasting peace between the two warring ethnic groups.

MI who was particularly reacting to the clash between Tiv and Jukun in Makurdi, Benue State, over a fish pond on Wednesday, lamented that the crisis has gone on for too long.

The Taraba-born rapper pledged to do his best to forget people the two ethnic groups, on behalf of his niece who is both Jukun and Tiv.

He tweeted: “Would love to join hands to build a new path for these two lovely peoples.. the killing and pain has gone on for too long. My niece is both Jukun and Tiv and so on her behalf I pledge to do my best going forward to forge peace between her people.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Makurdi local government, Anthony Dyegeh, has confirmed a fresh crisis at Riverside, Rice Mill and New Bridge axis of Wurukum area of the town.

He said two persons were critically injured, and several houses including a traditional ruler’s house torched.

The Benue State Police Command in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, on Wednesday, said the uproar is not an ethnic crisis as been reported on social media, adding that it was just a “disagreement” between fishermen and some hoodlums.

The PPRO said, “it is imperative to state that this incident has nothing to do with tribe or ethnicity but criminals who intended to create tension and steal from members of the public.

“Mormalcy has since been returned to the area with more patrol teams to forestall further breakdown of law and other.”
