Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has described comments made by his colleague and movie producer Kanayo O Kanayo as “laughable and insensitive”.

Kanayo O Kanayo had earlier said that not all the allegations of sex-for-role brought up by actresses were true. He said some actresses were not working hard to live up to the roles they were cast for. “Quite a shame,” he added in an Instagram post today.

In response, his colleague Uche said 75% of popular Nollywood actresses were victims of s*x for roles.

Uche went further to say that he too was a victim during the beginning of his career when he was told to sleep with male producers for a role.

He wrote on Instagram: “Oga abeg which role are they being cast for that they are not living up to? Bedroom roles before waka pass for movie or what? If not for your red cap title for village I would have said you need prayers sir for this your laughable and insensitive post.

“75% of popular actress for Nollywood were victims of S for roles, yes most times, it is upcoming actress wey dey walk up to producers or directors for am, and that is because the industry itself is partly flawed with mediocrity and not merit when it comes to castings for major movie roles.
