Bandits have released five family members of Alhaji Nasiru Magarya, Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who were kidnapped alongside his father.

Recall that Nasiru's family members were abducted at Magarya community in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state on August 5, 2021. The state police command has already confirmed that five of them have regained freedom.

The state police commissioner, Ayuba Elkanah said the Speaker’s family members who were rescued on September 29, include Dahiru Sarki Magarya, Hauwa Mu’azu Magarya, baby Khadija, Usman Magarya, and Okasha Abdullahi Magarya.

Elkanah also disclosed that the police have intensified efforts to rescue the speaker's father.
