Sergeant Adamu Garba A trigger-happy policeman, who allegedly shot and killed a young man in Osogbo, state capital of Osun, has been dismissed from the service of the Nigeria Police Force.

Adamu with Force No. 467549, was tried in accordance to the Force's laid down disciplinary procedure by undergoing an orderly trial, which pronounced him guilty and was subsequently releaved of his job.

Disclosing this to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Yemisi Opalola Olawoyin, said the policeman had on July 27, 2021 shot and killed one Saheed Olabomi in Osogbo, resulting in his arrest and detention.

Olawoyin recalled in the release that, the state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode had, in the wake of the dastardly act, promised to feed the public back on the outcome of disciplinary action to be taken against the killer cop.

"As the CP promised, in the best tradition of transparency and accountability that, the outcome of the trial will be brought to the public, the Policeman, F/NO.467549, Sergeant Adamu Garba, has been tried in orderly room, in line with the laid down rules and regulations of the Nigeria Police Disciplinary procedure. The erring officer has been found guilty of the offence and subsequently dismissed from the Force"the statement read

She added that the orderly room procedure had been forwarded to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, for necessary action towards the culprit's prosecution, saying it would serve as a deterrent to others of his likes.
