Model and TV presenter, Idia Aisien, recently added another feather to her cap when she played the lead role in the movie, Nneka the Pretty Serpent. Though it was her first attempt at acting, she has been commended for her output. However, the actress noted that it was tougher for her to kiss her co-star, Kenneth Okolie, than to master the fight scenes she had to do.

Speaking at a private media screening of the movie, Aisien told Sunday Scoop, “There were a lot of fight scenes but it (kissing) was actually harder for me than the fighting. It felt awkward doing something so private in a room full of people. It was a lot to process for me. Now, people know what my pre-wedding pictures would look like.

The actress also stated that she still found it hard to believe that she played the lead role in her first acting attempt. She added, “When I went for the first audition, I did not know I was going to get the part. They wanted someone that could play two characters at the same time and I think they liked what they saw. Till now, it still seems unreal to me. However, I am a very determined and dedicated person, so even when I did not think I would get the role, I gave it my best.”

Revealing some of the things she had to do to get into the character, she said, “To get myself into the character, I worked with an acting coach. I also learnt how to speak Igbo, swim and fight. For the fight scenes I worked with fitness coach, Uzi Kwendu. Being an actress is beyond just going on set and delivering one’s lines. If one does not push oneself, one would not go that far. I was by terrified by this experience but I am definitely going to do it again. The director, Tosin Igho, was also very helpful. My biggest takeaway from this project was how much I learnt. In the future, I wouldn’t also mind directing.”

On how her family members reacted to her performance in the movie, the actress said, “My family members don’t usually watch Nigerian movies but they said I did a good job because they did not even think I could act. However, my sister said there were a lot of kissing scenes in the film and I ‘kissed too much’. I have also got a lot of positive feedback from many people.”
