How to Make Money with Clickbank ($100/Day Case Study)

This case study and tutorial uses a lot of different elements that I have taught in the past but it’s also going to incorporate some new techniques too including:

Outsourcing. Unlike some my previous case studies where I wrote all of the content myself I’m going to show you how I’m now outsourcing every single word of content on some of my newer sites.

Digital Products. In the past I’ve shown you guys how to make affiliate commissions with Amazon and other physical product sites. But today I’ll be showing you how you can make more money through Clickbank affiliate marketing by promoting digital products that offer upwards of 50% commission per sale. Instead of needing dozens of sales a day to make a $100/day you’ll be able to do it with just a handful of sales each day.

YouTube marketing. I’ll be showing you how I’m incorporating video by building up big YouTube channels alongside all of my sites to take advantage of a whole new source of free traffic that most people are just leaving on the table.

Plus there’ll be a lot of other little tricks and tips along the way too.

The real-life case study website that this tutorial will be based on can be seen over at NumerologySecrets.net:



This is a website I set up quite a while back and I haven’t even updated it in quite a long time. It’s been a site that I’ve just had on the backburner but it’s continued to make me passive income through Clickbank affiliate marketing til today.

My most recent check which was for the last few months of sales from this site was for about $5,000:



And honestly if this was my main site that I was working on at the moment and I didn’t have so much else on the go then I’m sure I could actually get that up a lot higher.

But that just goes to show you the power of passive income.

A lot of the time when you build up these sites they soon get established, they get ranked and they start to bring in that sweet autopilot traffic.

That’s when you really start to make money hands off and can then re-invest that money back your site by outsourcing things. Hell, you can buy Bitcoin if you want 

So why numerology?

First of all numerology is something that people are searching for in Google a LOT:



As you can see there are over 200,000 people searching for the term “numerology” each month.

There’s also a lot of people searching for other related keywords too:



I’ll be getting more into this later in this tutorial but basically there’s just no shortage of people looking for information about this topic.

Second – there’s a lot of people buying stuff for it. If you go over to Clickbank.com which is a popular affiliate network you’ll see one of the highest converting offers right now is for numerology:



And if you look at the commissions on this it’s pretty d*mn good too – 65% for every sale.

If you compare that to something like Amazon where you might only make 4% – 8% commission – that’s a huge leap.

With Amazon for example if you were promoting a similarly priced product then you might need 30 or 40 sales a day to make $100 a day.

But with something like this where you’re getting the lions share – you might only need 2 or 3 sales a day to make that same $100 a day.

And the third reason I’ve chosen this niche is because it’s super low in competition making it easier for me to achieve rankings like this:

When you look at niches like weight loss and diet, yes there’s a lot of money in them but they’re also incredibly competitive and incredibly saturated. You’re going to have to be pretty d*mn good to be able to rank for some of those terms and to make money from them.

With something more random like this however the competition is generally a LOT lower and these are the kinds of obscure niches that I really love to go for.

So now that we’ve seen the site lets get down to the nitty gritty of how this stuff is done.

Step 1: Setting up a site.

First of you’ll need to get yourself a domain and some web hosting.

You can grab a domain name over at Namecheap for about $10 a year. This where I get all my domain names from:



Then you can get cheap and reliable hosting over at HostGator. I’ve hosted a tonne of sites using these guys over the years and have never had any problem ever.

I recommend choosing the “Baby” plan that they have on offer since it allows you to host as many sites on the one account as you want:



Next just choose the ‘I Already Own This Domain’ option and enter in the domain you just registered:

Once that’s all done we can set up a website using WordPress. WordPress is what my numerology website is built in, it’s what my Lazy Ass Stoner blog is built in and it’s what I built everywebsite in because it’s free, it’s easy to use and it’s super powerful.

Something crazy like half of all of the websites in the world run on WordPress and the reason is quite simple: it’s the bomb.

If you’re using HostGator you can install this by just going to the Control Panel area and using the ‘QuickInstall’ feature:



Then just choose the WordPress option:



Then we just need to link our domain name to our hosting account by entering the Nameservers that HostGator will have sent you after signing up into the “Nameserver 1” and “Nameserver 2” boxes on Namecheap:



And now the beginnings of our site is all set up.

Next we need to customize it a bit though by installing a WordPress theme. To do this just head over to your WordPress control panel by going to YourSite.com/wp-login.php and entering the details that you created when installing WordPress.

Once logged in head over to the “Appearance” section and then “Themes” and from here you can search through hundreds of different free themes which you can then install and activate:

And now your site should be rocking a brand new style.

Free themes do work great especially for those that are new to this stuff or on a budget however I do personally use premium themes for all of my sites these days. The theme that you see on this Numerology site for example is a premium theme called Extra from Elegant Themes:



The main benefit of a paid theme over free themes is not only do they tend to look a bit slicker and have more features but they’re also updated more often by the creators.

Sometimes with free themes you may find that a year or two down the track the developers stop updating their theme as WordPress updates and suddenly you have some weird glitch on your site.

One nice thing about Elegant Themes too is that instead of paying for every theme separately you simply pay one yearly subscription fee and then get unlimited access to all of their different themes. So if you intend to set up several different websites and want some solid themes that are guaranteed to be continually updated and worked on these guys are definitely work a look.

I’m even currently using one of their themes for my LazyAssStoner.com blog as well as several of my other sites.

But really whether you’re using a free or premium theme this stuff can work. Just find a theme that matches the kind of style you are looking for and roll with it. If necessary, you can always change it down the track.

Each theme can be a little bit different with their options but generally they’ll add a new section to your WordPress control panel where you can customize all the different options whether it’s changing your colors, uploading your logo and so on.

If you need help with a logo, unless you’re a really good graphic designer I actually recommend just buying a pre-made logo. I buy most of my logos pre-made for all of my niche sites over at Graphic River:



But if you’re really on a budget you can usually find some pre-made logos that are free by looking for free vector sites, free logo sites, stuff like that.

If you have a good domain, a good theme and a good logo you’re already halfway there to making your site look like an authority and trustworthy site.

Obviously there are a ton of other options you can use to customize a theme. Generally though, if you’ve picked a theme that already looks pretty good right outside of the box – you don’t have to do a whole lot.

Next we need to create a description for our website which we can do by going over to the “Settings” section and then “General” and then adding a description here:



And finally we also want to go down to the permalinks section and choose the “Post Name” option:



Basically this will just make your URLs for each of posts look a lot nicer. So for example this makes each of my posts look more like NumerologySecrets.net/my-post-title-here/ instead of random numbers like NumerologySecrets.net/?p=32564364. This not only just looks better but it’s also good for optimizing your pages for the search engines.

Step 2: Researching keywords.

Next we need to hunt down some profitable keywords to target on our site.

For anyone that is completelynew to this stuff keywords are just terms that people are searching for in the search engines which I’m optimizing my website for. These are the the terms that we want our site to rank for.

For example, the main keyword of this site is “numerology” but everypage targets a specific keyword that gets a lot of searches in the search engines.

Here’s an example of a page that I have that’s targetting the keyword “Meaning Of 111”:

Basically a lot of people search for these kind of random, obscure, niche-y keywords but there isn’t a whole lot of competition for a lot of them so they are really the kind of keywords that I love.

Making sure that your site is targeting good keywords can make or break your site as the vast majority of people that find my site, click my ads and then buy something do so by finding it in the search engines.

To find these keywords we need to get our hands on a Keyword Tool. The tool that I use to do all of my keyword research is KWFinder. Just type in your keyword idea and it will show you roughly how many times that term gets searched for in Google each month along with a bunch of related keywords:



And there are literally hundreds of these random keywords for this niche. There’s people searching for different numbers, the meaning of this, the meaning of that. The list is endless.

Generally at this point I would start to compile a list of keywords that I want to target and for each of these keywords I would create a separate page.

If you go to my site you’ll see many pages that perfectly align with these exact keywords:


What’s more is many of them are sitting right on the first page of Google for their targeted keyword:



The basic point is I’m not just randomly making pages about any old random topic. I’m specifically making pages based on what people are searching for.

Try to find keywords that are that perfect middle ground between having a good amount of searches (a few thousand searches per keyword is good), that you can tie to a product (these keywords are all hyper-related to the numerology product) and that are also relatively low competition in the search engines.

Step 3: Cranking out content.

Now that we’ve got our keywords all picked out it’s time to create some content that targets those keywords.

When it comes to content creation you really have two options:

1) You can write it all yourself.This option is great for those that are just getting started, that are on a budget or that know their niche so well that they know they can create really good content for it by writing it themselves.

2) You can outsource that sh!t to someone else. This is great for those of you looking to scale up or just anyone who absolutely hates writing content.

When I first started I wrote every word of content on every site I built myself but these days for a lot of my sites I am outsourcing just because it’s faster and it allows me to focus on the bigger picture such as getting my sites to rank in Google and promoting them on the social networks.

For outsourcing you can either hit up Freelancing websites like Freelancer.com where you’ll be able to find specialized writers who are able to write for your niche. The only downside to this option is it can be difficult to manage if you are planning on doing a lot of volume as you will need to vet and manage multiple writers.

The other option is Word Agentswhich is where I personally get a lot of my articles from. In fact, every single word on my numerology site was written by writers that found through them.

And there are a few reasons that I really like these guys:

They actually understand search engine optimization. For many of these articles I’ve literally just sent them the keyword that I want to rank for (so I might of sent them “Numerology 1010”) and then they’ve done all the research, written a whole article and boom I’ve got it back. That saves a h3ll of a lot of time.

They’re very reasonably priced. Unlike other sites it wont cost you a fortune to get some of these articles.

They can do volume. I don’t just send them one article at a time. I’ve sent them lists of 50 different articles that I want written up and often that’s just a list of 50 different keywords. And just like that they send me back a list of 50 articles.

However, whether you do-it-yourself or outsource it there’s a few things that you’ll need to know to ensure that your content is optimized for both the search engines and your actual visitors.

First you want to make sure your main keyword for each post is in the headline and sprinkled throughout your content. I’m talking about including it in the title and as well in several places throughout the text:


Don’t go too crazy with this though. You don’t want to make every second word your keyword. Just a few times is enough.

You can also throw in some variations and closely related keywords so I might write “numerology of 111” in one spot and then the “meaning of 111” in another and so on.

The whole reason for this is Google will scan over each of your articles to figure out what they’re about and what terms they should be ranking for. When Google sees that my article has the “meaning of 111” in the title and the description and everything like that it knows that the article is about that keyword and should rank for “meaning of 111”.

The next important thing is formatting. The last thing you want is some 6utt ugly wall of text that’s just going to instantly make people click the “back” button. Instead, you want your content to look good and be easily readable. This means including paragraphs in your text, breaking them up with headlines and adding images as well:



Always remember that a lot of people will skim your content. They’re not going to read the whole article. So it’s important to have eye-catching headlines that can bring people’s attention back into the content and tell them what that next paragraph is about.

If you’re looking for royalty-free images that you can use on your site without having to link back or anything like that I recommend checking out Pixabay.com. They’ve got a great collection of high quality free images that you can use in all of your posts.

The last important thing to keep in mind is you also want to interlink like crazy. And by this I mean linking between all of your posts. When you mention a topic in one post that you also have another post about you want to link that text to that other post:


Every time you link to another one of your posts using a specific text it helps to tell Google that that other post is about that specific thing. In turn, this helps that other page to rank for that term. And the more pages that you have linking to a specific page using that text the more it tells Google that that page really deserves to rank for that keyword.

Another way that this helps is it gets people to click on more than one page on your site which Google also loves to see. They recognize that if your visitors are viewing multiple pages then you probably have really good content.

The long story short is that interlinking between your pages well is one of the best things that you can do to rank in the search engines.

Step 4: Installing plugins.

One of the great things about WordPress is you can install pre-made plugins that other people have created that add all kinds of new features to your website. In fact, if you can think of a feature that you want to add then chances are there’s a plugin that someone’s created that allows you to do just that.

That’s why WordPress is great.You don’t need to know how to code or create any of this stuff yourself. You just plugin stuff that other people have already made.

To install plugins you just go to your WordPress control panel, you go over to the “Plugins” section and then you go to “Add New”:


Then you can just do a search and find all sorts of plugins. There are a lot of different plugins out there that you can install but here are the two essential type of plugins that I’m going to recommend that you install that I use on all of my sites.

The first is an SEO plugin (aka a Search Engine Optimization plugin). This will basically help your site to rank better in the search engines.

The plugin that I use for this is called “SEO by Yoast”. Just search for it in the plugins section and then install and activate it:

What this will do is allow you to customize how each post will look in the Google search engine results. When you now go to edit your posts you will be able to change the title and set a description which will affect how your posts turns up in Google:

The second type of plugin that I recommend you install is a social plugin which will add some nice prominent sharing buttons to each of your posts.

For my sites I’m using a plugin called Social Warfare. It is a paid plugin but it does have some really nice capabilities and it looks really good too:

Though by all means you don’t have to use a paid plugin for this. There are tonnes of good free social plugins out there. You just want to make sure that you have some really prominent buttons on each of your pages prompting people to share your content.

Of course, there are a lot of other different types of plugins that you can install but if you’re just starting out these are really the essentials. I wouldn’t bother with too much right now. You can always play around with new plugins later on.

Step 5: Monetizing your site.

Next it’s time to monetize our site by throwing up some ads. For my numerology site I’ve made some custom banners in Photoshop to promote my product:


But if you’re not not so handy with graphic design you can often find pre-made banners in the affiliate section of the product that you are promoting:


Then we just place our banners somewhere prominent on our website. You can do this manually by going into each of your blog posts and inserting your images inside of them. Or you can use plugins like Ad Inserter to automatically place your ads for you.

Then we need to get our affiliate link. In my case I’d go over to Clickbank.com, find the offer and then get my affiliate link from there:


Then I would just select my banners, choose the hyperlink option and add my link:


Now every time someone clicks on that banner they’ll be taken to the sales page. Every time they buy something I get paid.

You’ll see I’ve also thrown up a notification bar on my site which is the bar at the bottom of the page which links to the affiliate offer and this also gets quite a few sales:



The plugin that I use to do this is called WP Notification Bar and it’s nice because you can set it so that it’s always on the screen. No matter what point of the article a person is at they’ll always have that ad there prompting them to click through.

As I’ve covered in previous guides you can also throw up Adsense, you can throw up Amazon links, you can throw up links for anything you want.

But because this site is really just geared around this specific offer and I’ve found it pretty much converts better than anything else, I’ve used all of my most prominent ad spots for this Clickbank product. But by all means test out some Adsense, test out some Amazon stuff, test out whatever.

Once you get to the stage where you are ranking for stuff and getting more traffic that’s when you can really start to fine tune what kind of ads work best, what kind of products work best and all that kind of stuff. But for now just put some ads up and worrying about tweaking it once you’ve actually got some people rolling into the site.

Step 6: Growing your socials accounts.

Once you’ve got your site set up with content and monetization the last thing you need is some actual people to come to your site.

And the way that I like to do this is with some clever social marketing. Specifically what I’m talking about is growing big niche related accounts for your site on all of the biggest social networks and then using them to promote your content.

So I’m talking about Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and all that good stuff.

Not only will you be able to get a lot of traffic directly from the social networks but this is also the key to getting your content to actually rank in the search engines which is ultimately where the most profitable traffic will come from.

As you can see my numerology site is ranking in the top spots of Google for a ton of my keywords and this is pretty much all thanks to my social accounts:



I’ve made a video about this in the past but basically the reason this works is when you’re sharing out your content through big niche related social accounts they’ll attract a LOT of social reshares and natural links from other websites. And this is exactlythe kind of thing that Google likes to see and exactly how I get my sites ranked in the search engines.

You want to think of your social profiles as a kind of spring board for all of your content. Every time you add a new piece of content you want to post it out through your social network.

As you can see with the numerology example I’ve grown up some really big accounts. I’ve got my Facebook page at over 100,000 fans. I’ve got a Pinterest. I’ve got a Twitter. I’ve got a Tumblr:



I’ve covered guides in the past on how you can grow up big social accounts but here are a few tips to get you started.

With Facebook you want to set up a page, you want to make it look good and you want to run some ads to your page to get some likes. A while back I set up an ad for my page targeting people that like “numerology”, I targeted first-world countries and I set my ads to “mobile only” because usually that’s how you get the cheapest fans.

Here’s an example of an ad that I set up for my numerology page:



Stay away from paying for fake fans and stuff like that. They’re untargeted and they’re just not the kind of people that are actually going to share your content. I would much rather a page with a few thousand hyper-targeted people on my page than 100,000 fake fans that I bought off some dodgy website.

To automate your content from your Facebook page I recommend checking out FPTraffic which I use to automate ALL of Facebook pages:


If you don’t have money yet to spend on ads you can also sign up to some groups and start posting your content there:



Of course, you’re going to want to be a bit careful with that so you don’t seem too spammy. But if you’re just trying to get a few reshares initially it’s not a bad way to go.

For Pinterest you can just sign up, create an account and can start posting out images along with a link back to your website. One of the cool things about Pinterest is you don’t even need many followers to actually start getting traction. It all relies on how good your images look. You can see some of the images that I’ve posted out from my numerology site have gotten a lot of traction and I don’t even have that many followers on there:


All of these reshares are really great for search engine optimization showing Google that this content is popular and worth ranking. Do a search for your niche on Pinterest and you’ll see what kind of images are performing well then just post similar stuff from your own account.

If you don’t have money to spend on Facebook ads just yet Pinterest is a great place to put more of your focus initially. You don’t need to spend any money. Just post out images and if they’re half-decent you can get a lot of reshares and links which will help you to rank.

Reddit is also really good . I’ve covered it in the past and it’s especially good for certain niches. Just create an account, make a few posts, find a sub-reddit related to your niche and then cheekily post a few links to your site:



You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to get traction with reddit. You can get a lot of links. You can get a lot of shares. And all of this Google loves.

Twitter is another good one. You can just sign up, put your link in your bio, add a cover image, all that stuff. You can then just follow other people that are related to your niche and they will start to follow you back. Then you can post your content:



To get Twitter fans by automatically following other people related to your niche I highly recommend checking out Rewst which is a tool made by the same guy who made FPTraffic.

You’ll often find that different social networks work better for different niches. So just try them all and then put more of your focus on the ones that are working the best for you.

And remember – you don’t need a massive following to get traction if you’re picking low competition keywords. You just need to get a few hundred to a few thousand fans across your social network, post some content that’s decent and if you do it right pretty soon you’ll start getting that organic traffic from Google that you really want.

Step 7: Creating videos.

One thing that you might have noticed my numerology case study site is that it also has a lot of videos and a whole YouTube channel set up to go along with it:


Now YouTube and video is optional. If you’re not at that stage yet by all means just start with regular content. I’ve made plenty of profitable sites that don’t use videos so don’t let that put you off if you’re freaked out by making videos.

But I will say YouTube I quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to promote my websites and alongside most of my sites I’m building YouTube channels and putting out videos. And there’s a few reasons that I really like YouTube.

By creating videos you’ll start showing up in the YouTube search engines. In fact, if you find a keyword that’s getting searched for in Google then chances are it also gets searched for in YouTube. So I pretty much just take my same list of keywords and then I make videos to target those exact same keywords.

As you can see a lot of these videos that I’m targeting specific keywords for on YouTube rank on the first page for these keywords:



Sometimes you’ll even get your YouTube videos turning up in the Google search results too:


And sometimes you can actually take up two of the first page results because one of them will be your video and one of them will be your link:


Plus you’re able to start appearing in the related videos section too:


You’re also able to monetize these videos by redirecting people back to your site both in your videos and in the description and you better believe that people do go to these links and buy stuff:


On top of all of that videos are just a great way to keep people on your site for longer which in turn Google loves to see. When Google sees that someone hung around for 8 minutes to watch a whole video they say “this must be good content”.

And here’s my sneaky secret behind making these videos easily. Each of these videos is more or less just reading out the same thing as the content in the article. So I’m not writing or outsourcing whole new scripts from scratch. I’m just creating this stuff from the article that’s already been written. That saves a LOT of time.

And then just like the content itself I’ve also outsourced the voiceovers. I get all my voiceovers over at Fiverr.com where if you go to the voiceover section you’ll find tons of people willing to do voiceovers for you:


Then I just take my voiceover, I put it into a video editing program (personally I use Adobe Premiere Pro):


Then I just add a royalty free audio track along with an intro, outro and a bunch of stock footage:

And all of these stock videos I’ve bought from Video Blocks. For about $100 a year on this site you can download unlimited videos and then use them as many times as you want in your videos:


Alternatively you can also find a whole bunch of free stock video over at Pexels.

You can find royalty free tracks on YouTube by searching for “Free Royalty Tracks” or you can also buy premium ones over at Audio Jungle:

Once you’ve done that you just render your video:

ut most people who edit videos taught themselves. It isn’t that difficult. And if you really want to learn a new skill that’s going to give you a bit of a competitive edge then I seriously recommend giving it a shot. Video is just getting bigger and bigger and a lot of people who don’t like reading articles LOVE videos.

And that’s how it’s done…

So that is how you build a profitable site from scratch. Yes this stuff does take effort. Yes you do need to put into some work.

But once you get to the point where you’re getting that passive income rolling in then you can take that money re-invest it back into your site, re-invest it into other sites, outsource things. That’s how you can really get started and get off the ground.

The whole thing can be very addictive.
