Sleep, which is a reduced consciousness doing which a human rest in a daily rhythm, is very essential for our body system. It helps relax the muscles and bones and also energize the body for future activities.

All the various sleeping positions has its effects to the body whether negative or positive. That is whether you sleep on your back, on your side or on your stomach, it all has influence to the body , and listed below are the various sleeping positions and their effects:

1. Free -fall position : people who sleeps this way have their arms wrapped around the pillow or tucked under your pillow, it does not really affects the health.

2. Sleeping on your back : it has advantage and disadvantage. You may experience low back pain and it might also make existing back pain worse. It also aggreviate snoring or sleep apnea, its also not suitable for pregnant women. On the positive side, it is considered the best sleeping position for heartburn, also your back, neck, and spine at are in a neutral position therefore you won't experience neck pain.

3. Soldier position : this position is poor for people who snore and you might get a restless night sleep.

4. Star Fish position : people who sleep in this position are prone to snoring and sleep problems.

5. Sleeping on your stomach : this position helps ease snoring, but causes neck and back pain, because your neck and spine are not neutral position.

6. Fetal position : this position is mainly practiced by women and is very healthy especially for pregnant women because it improves circulation for both mother and fetus.

7. Side sleeping : this position is good for people who snore, people with some form of arthritis, it also causes facial wrinkles. On a positive side, it is the most efficient posture for sleeping. It helps clear brain waste which were accumulated when awake.

8. Log position : this position may be good for you if you snore, but if you have arthritis you may wake up in pain.

9. Yearner position : this position may be good if you have breathing problems, but bad if you suffer from arthritis .

10. Spooning position : this is a side sleeping position for couples, but couples may wake up more frequently sleeping this way. On the other hand, it allows for cuddling which stimulates the release of oxytocin.
