Sadjo Samuel Wins First Ikogosi 10KM Marathon by ogablackbuhari(m) : 2:00 pm On Dec 14, 2019

Cross River State--born Sadjo Isamel at the weekend made history by becoming the winner of the maiden edition of Ikogosi 10km Marathon race.

He beat no fewer than 1,999 other athletes to the finish line to win the #1 million prize in 30 mins 40seconds.

Sadjo was trailed by Plateau-born Adamu Shehu Muazu who came second at 31mins 22seconds.

Oyebode Dada Samuel from Osun state came third at 31mins 48seconds.

The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi congratulated the winners and presented them with their prizes.

The overall winner, Sadjo smiled home with #1 Million; the first runner up got a prize of #500,000 while the second runner up got #300,000.

The race which was flagged off by the State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi in Aramoko starting point at 9:25am on Saturday also had winners in other categories.

In the female elite category, Rose Akuso from Plataeu State came first in 36 mins 51 seconds of the race.

David Abiye from Ondo state came second in 36 mins 59 seconds, while another runner from Plateau State, Oman Sale came third.

They also received #1 Million; #500,000 and #300,000 respectively as their prizes.

In the female indigene category, Adewole Hannah Jumoke from Ikere Ekiti came first by reaching the finish line in 38 mins 49 seconds. She got #1million.

She was followed by Sehinde Favour (43mins 32 seconds), Folorunso Fayokemi (44m, 38s), Abolaji Iyanu ( 45m, 74s) and Oduluyi Jumoke (46m,42s).

Others are Ekundayo Olajumoke (47m, 42s), Anyigor Serah (49m, 11s), John Mary (49m, 36s) and Ajeyomi Bukola (49m, 49s).

In the male indigene category, Shedowo Adewale came first at 34mins 51s while Lawal Azeez was his first runner up at 35 mins 16 seconds.

Others are Arowolo Tunde (36m, 17s), Angyom Joseph (36m,42s), Aruleba Tomisin (36m 57s), Ilesanmi Wasiu (37m,14s), Bashiru Mukaila (37m, 22s) Olonilua Temilade (37m 36s) and Asaolu Femi (38m, 07s).

Okemesi Ekiti-born 14-year old Dolapo Morakinyo was apparently the youngest participant.

It is recalled that Ikogosi Marathon was initiated by the Fayemi-led government to showcase talents and partner relevant private sector to develop the sports industry in Ekiti State.
