Online trolling has gradually become the order of the day on social media platforms.

Online platforms have given celebrities more exposure as well as grown their fan base but it appears that trolling is sadly one of the prices they have to pay.

The distasteful comments and attacks have often worried some celebrities. However, an actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Oshodi Oke, has said she has grown a very thick skin over time.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, Oshodi Oke said, “Nobody can bully me online because if one or two persons troll me, they’ll definitely troll another person in the next two minutes. It should be kept at the back of your mind that there will always be online trolls.

“So when it comes, you should know you have done the same because when you talk about a person, they’ll definitely talk about you. When it comes, just take it easy, calm down, and drink water. You can switch your phone off and switch it on the next day to continue with your life.

“People are dying every day; I did not kill anybody, so nobody can kill me. One thing should be kept at the back of our mind; if they don’t talk about you, you’ll never prosper in life. Who is talking about the dead now? They are talking about you because you are still relevant. Even if they are saying something bad about you, you should thank God for being alive for them to talk about you.”

Speaking about a disturbing trend in the industry where allegations are being made by upcoming actresses that filmmakers demand s*x for juicy roles, the actress noted that the phenomenon was not peculiar to the entertainment industry alone.

She said, “If a man asks you out and you are sure of yourself and you reject him, he will not force you. The director may not give you the role but with time, you’ll get to your destination.

“I keep telling people that the industry is very big now compared to when we came in. Some directors see it as an opportunity to go after the girls now because when they become stars, they won’t know them again. If there is no abuse, there is no rape. As long as it is only about asking them out, I do not see it as anything because any man can ask any girl out. If you ask me out and I refuse, then so be it. You just have to pray and work hard. It is like that everywhere.”

The 45-year-old actress further noted that she was prepared for the challenges associated with acting, saying, “When you love what you are doing, you will see any disadvantage that comes as an advantage. When coming into the industry, you have to be ready to face all challenges because there are things that won’t want you to go further.

“For me, I do not see anything as a disadvantage; I just see it as the job because I love my job so much and I have never regretted doing what I do for one day.”
