TWO men have been burnt to death for attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl in Mosogar town, Ethiope West council area of Delta State, The Nation learnt.

The incident happened early Wednesday at the Sublane Junction of the town, it was gathered.

The lynched pair also reportedly robbed the teen’s parents before trying to assault her.

According to a witness, the victims, a truck driver, his wife and daughter, were attacked in their house in Uduaka area of the community.

She stated that the hoodlums ran into the bush when the father raised the alarm, seeing their intentions to rape his teenage girl.

“After taking the couple’s phones and cash, they insisted on sleeping with the man’s 13-year old daughter. That was when the truck driver raised alarm,” the witness said.

It was learnt that the Vigilante group in the area where alerted to the attack and laid ambush for hours until they were caught.

Unfortunately, an angry mob was said to have taken over the situation and set the thieves on fire.

As at press time, efforts to get the Delta State Police Command to confirm the incident proved unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the Commissioner of Police were neither responded to nor replied.
