After an explosive report of parents accusing R. Kelly of holding their daughter, and other young women, captive in a supposed “cult,” the daughter has spoken out publicly against the claims.

In an interview with TMZ, Joycelyn Savage, 21, says she is not being held against her will and assured that she is “a happy place” and “totally fine.”

“I am not being brainwashed or anything like that,” Savage said. “I just want everybody to know, my parents and everybody else in the world that I am totally fine and happy where I’m at.”



Savage’s parents, Tim and Jonjelyn Savage, told Buzzfeed News that they had last seen their daughter in December 2016 and have desperately tried to find her and return her home. They have contacted law enforcement in both the states of Illinois and Georgia, leading to welfare checks at Kelly’s properties, but to no avail.


Over the last five to six months, Joycelyn Savage said she has kept her distance because her parents were “causing problems in my life.”

“I haven’t wanted to speak with them because of what they’re doing,” she said, refusing to reveal her location.

Her parents, however, maintain that she is being controlled by the R&B singer. During a press conference in Atlanta, Tim and Jonjelyn Savage, said their daughter is “severely brainwashed.”

“She’s brainwashed to the point where she says anything that he asks her to say. She’s not the same Joycelyn that we knew,” the mother said.

R. Kelly, in a statement provided by his attorney, has categorically denied the allegations.

“Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him,” Lisa Mensch said Monday. “Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”
