An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, ordered one Mrs Adenike Olowookere to be remanded in prison for attempted murder.

Adenike was said to have in the process of fighting with her mother-in-law, Mrs Comfort Olowookere, beat the 63-year-old woman to a state of unconsciousness.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendant, committed the offence on September 9, 2019, in Ado Ekiti.

He alleged that Adenike fought with her mother-in-law and beat the woman, which led to her falling into coma and being admitted to hospital.

According to the police prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Olasunkanmi urged the court to remand the defendant in prison pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court did not take Adenike’s plea.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the case till October 17 for mention.
