Arsenal plan to open talks with Alexandre Lacazette over a new long-term deal at the club to thwart interest from Barcelona.
The La Liga giants are believed to be keen on signing the Frenchman as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
Lacazette joined the Gunners for a then-club record fee of around £47million in 2017 and he’s formed a formidable partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubamaeyang under Unai Emery.
Arsenal must beat Chelsea in the Europa League final to gain entry into the Champions League and a failure to do so will impact Emery’s budget.

Nevertheless, Lacazette is considered invaluable and the club wants to sit down with his representatives once the season finishes improving his current deal. The club is aware of interest from Barcelona but feels the striker is happy at the Emirates and will commit his future to the club.
The Gunners will not listen to offers for Lacazette or Aubamaeyang and plan to hold similar talks with the Gabon striker over a new deal, according to the British Media. Both parties can expect to be put on wages closer to top earner Mesut Ozil and around the £250,000-a-week mark

The French striker was voted by the Arsenal fans as the club’s player of the season and has scored 18 goals for them this season in all competitions. He joined from Olympic Lyon two years ago an became an instant hit with the fans for his tireless running and finishing ability. His partnership with Gabon Striker Pierre Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s key strength this season under Unai Emery.
