Avengers: Endgame earns an additional $119M worldwide on Monday (for total of $1 by Cougarfakt(m) : 8:23 pm On May 04, 2019 |
After a record-breaking weekend at the box office, Marvel's Avengers: Endgame passed yet another milestone on Monday, becoming the 10th highest grossing movie of all time.
The Marvel Studios blockbuster took in an impressive $36.7 million at the domestic box office, and an additional $82.2 million from 55 international markets on Monday, according to Deadline. That brings its domestic total to $393.9 million and its foreign total to $948.7 million, for a worldwide tally of $1.342 billion, just barely passing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ($1.341 billion) for 10th place all-time at the worldwide box office. Box office milestone: Marvel's Avengers: Endgame passed yet another milestone on Monday, becoming the 10th highest grossing movie of all time after just four days in theaters. While Avengers: Endgame has shattered several box office records thus far, it did not break the all-time single-day Monday box office record. Its tally of $36.7 million fell just short of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($40.10 million) and Black Panther ($40.15 million). Still, it's poised to cross $1 billion from foreign markets alone later this week, along with $400 million domestic, likely tomorrow. No Monday record: While Avengers: Endgame has shattered several box office records thus far, it did not break the all-time single-day Monday box office record. Avengers: Endgame seems poised to pass Black Panther ($1.346 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.405 billion) and Furious 7 ($1.516 billion) on the worldwide charts within the next few days. It seems likely that it will become the fifth movie ever to earn over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, joining Avengers: Infinity War ($2.048 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.048 billion), Titanic ($2.187 billion) and the highest grossing movie of all time worldwide, Avatar ($2.788 billion). With nearly $400 million domestic in just four days in theaters, Avengers: Endgame could give Star Wars: The Force Awakens a run at the domestic box office record of $936.6 million, but that's a long ways off still. Box office hit: Avengers: Endgame seems poised to pass Black Panther ($1.346 billion), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($1.405 billion) and Furious 7 ($1.516 billion) on the worldwide charts within the next few days Avengers: Endgame also debuted its final international market on Monday, Russia, with its $7.8 million the biggest opening day in the country all time. Not included in the $82.2 million Monday international tally was an additional $37.3 million from China, bringing its Middle Kingdom total to $386.4 million. Tomorrow it will surpass 2018's The Fate of the Furious ($392.8 million) as the highest-grossing Hollywood movie in China all time. Global sensation: Avengers: Endgame also debuted its final international market on Monday, Russia, with its $7.8 million the biggest opening day in the country all time The May Day (May 1) holiday could see a spike in global box office revenue in several markets throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific regions. Wednesday kicks off a four-day national holiday in China, which could lead to bigger box office numbers from the Middle Kingdom. Chinese ticketing platform is predicting a $606 million tally in China, which would make it the third highest grossing movie of all time in the country behind local hits Wolf Warrior 2 ($854.2 million) and The Wandering Earth ($694 million). |
