Ekiti State Former Governor, Ayodele Fayose Arrives Federal High Court For An Alleged Fraud Of N2.2bn

The immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has arrived the Federal high court in Lagos to start his criminal trial for an alleged fraud of N2.2bn.

Mr. Fayose, who was in the midst of officers of the Economic and financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), arrived the court’s premises at about 8.30am amidst armed law enforcement officials.

It is believed that the court session started around 9am.

Fayose was brought to court straight from the EFCC custody, where he had been detained since last week when he submitted himself to the anti-graft agency, shortly after the expiration of his immunity from prosecution.

The former governor is facing an 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering.

Fayose is being defended by a former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN).

Agabi was also counseled for the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, when he was tried before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged false asset declaration.
