Alexander Amosu, The Nigerian Man Who Designed World’s Most Expensive Suit by atoluwash(m) : 8:44 pm On Jun 26, 2017

When I can create one thing and make millions, why will I want to make a hundred substandard ones and make the same amount” – Alexander Amosu

It’s a rather curious move for one to be opening shop and not be intending to sell. But that is basically what Mr. Alexander Amosu, erudite businessman and designer of some of the world’s most expensive luxury products is about doing. He is launching the Alexander Amosu line of luxury products in Nigeria without the primary intention of selling them or making profit.

What type of profit could he really make in Nigeria after designing the world’s most expensive suit and blackberry which are worth 70, 000 pounds and 140, 000 pounds respectively and getting listed in the Guinness Book Of World Records? Yes, what kind of profit could he really make in a country where the Naira equivalents of the mentioned products (approximately N36, 500 000 for the suit and N60, 000 000, respectively)? What is the rationale behind such a move when he can boast of clients among the richest and most glamorous people in the world?

Alexander is coming home. In case you haven’t noticed, his last name is Amosu and that is a Nigerian name. He is a Yoruba from Abeokuta. “My father is from Abeokuta,” he tells me in a thick British accent, “and my mother is from Ikorodu.” He was born in London and has never been to those places before. His last visit to Nigeria was in 2008 during the TV Reality Show, Dragon’s Den, which he had a stake in. This was after a 16-year absence.

“I am coming home to establish. I need to connect with Nigerians,” he says excitedly, but his tone almost immediately falls. “There are a lot of successful Nigerians in the UK that can’t come to Nigeria,” he states matter-of-factly. “They say that there are a lot of bad things happening in Nigeria; that there are armed robbers, kidnappers and that there’s no safety here. They hear all the negative things people are telling us for us not to home back but I believe that the more we come back home with the exposure, experience and wealth, we have garnered from around the world, the more we’ll be able to make Nigeria better.” Picking up enthusiasm again, he continues: “I am coming because I want to celebrate the fact that I am successful all over the world and I am selling to international stars and I want Nigerians to be able to say that this is one of their own.”

“So when I meet people in the UK and they tell me that Nigerians are fraudsters, I will tell them No! We don’t do fraud; we are doing successful things. Go and check for my name in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Do you see any fraud there?

Nigerians are doing successful things all over the world and we have to start coming back home. I am hoping that if I am here, people would say that if Alexander Amosu can be there, then I too can be there. Why would Nigeria not be like or even better than London?” he asks. We need to come back and build our own country and the way to start is by each of us coming back and saying that this is what I have done.” Then picking up the thread of the suit again, he adds: “I don’t need to sell my suit here. People are buying my stuff all over the world and I don’t need to sell it here. Moreover there are just four of them in the world and I just want to bring it to Nigeria and show my people that this is what I have done.”

But there are so many other things in his line of luxury products. The bespoke world’s most expensive suit is just one of them. The suits start from 3, 500 pounds and there are a range of other luxury products including belts, ties, shirts, cufflinks and so on. But what makes this one suit so special that it has to sell for that price? “The suit is made with gold and platinum thread. It is made from rare materials such as Vicuna wool, which can only be shorn once every three years from the South American camelid, and Qiviut wool, gathered from the Arctic muskoxen,” he explains. “It takes a minimum of 80 hours to complete each suit and this will include over 5000 individual stitches. Our professional tailors, each with no less than a 21-year experience visit the client wherever he is in the world to take his measurement after which work would commence. An Alexander Amosu suit is not just a suit, but a lifestyle: the purchase of the suit includes a 1-hour flight by private jet to anywhere in the world by Cloud9, 1-year free wealth management from Cheviot Asset Management and a 24 hr Global Concierge service.”

Being just 34 years old and placing a demanding a minimum requirement of 21 years experience from the tailors of his suits, I asked him why and he replied thus: “Because you are dealing with the world’s most expensive suit, you cannot afford to make any mistakes. And who says there are no spaces for the young and talented?” he asked. They are the ones that provide most of the ideas and vision which the tailors work on. But I’m not gonna risk having a rookie tailor ruin such a job. There are spaces for the youth but first, I have to build my brand, then develop the younger generation through different projects and ideas and when they are ready take over from the older ones, they move in. But on this particular job, there are no spaces for mistakes and we don’t take unnecessary risks.”

Then I again asked the reason for only making materials for the rich and not producing cheaper ones to sell to a larger number of the masses. To explain his reason, Alexander asked for my phone, a NOKIA 1202, which he placed beside one of his diamond encrusted blackberries. “For argument sake, let’s say your phone is worth ten pounds and mine 5000 pounds,” he tells me. “How long do you think it would take me to sell your phone at its price to get to 5000 pounds?” he amusingly asks me. “How many of your phone do I have to sell to get to 5000 pounds?”

“500,” I answer.

“So you mean I should be bursting my head to sell 500 units of a phone when I can sell one phone to one person and make the same amount without losing any sweat; do you want to work 500 times harder to make the same amount of money?” But I insisted that there was still the need to necessary products like phones to the average person but Alexander refused to budge.

“That’s their choice,” he states. “If they decide to spend a whole year to sell their products, it’s their own call. Why would I do that to myself? You have to be an entrepreneur; you have to think like a visioner. People work for money, but I make my money work for me. There’s the big difference. You could spend working really hard or you could work smart. It’s your own decision. I made my decision long ago and I’m happy making my money the easy way. The person trying to sell to everybody would be running around the whole day like a headless chicken while I would sit in the comfort of my office and make my own sales.”

“It’s so much easier selling things to rich people. They don’t haggle; they just want the best and they are prepared to pay for it. Trying to sell to poor people is so much hard work because they haggle. If you are selling to them for ten pounds, they’ll still ask for a discount. If they do, I will slap their ears with the phone. You have to understand the psyche of the rich people, they want the best things and they are prepared to pay for it.” I was going to continue the argument, but the mention of slaps made me switch to this question. “If you are making so much money, you should be playing hard.”

“Why would I do that?” he asks me incredulously. “I am a responsible person; I have a family. (He is married to a Nigerian lady, Tayo and they have two children). I can easily blow a million pounds in a day but what would I gain from that? I haven’t arrived yet. Bill Gates and Richard Branson didn’t get to where they are today by playing. I haven’t got to that level yet. When I start rubbing shoulders with the likes of Richard Branson, then I would go and play. Before then, all I do is work.”

Coming from a very humble beginning, Alexander was brought up by his grandmother who couldn’t afford the luxuries that a youth needed to “belong” with. So he got his first job at 12 as a paper delivery boy in his neighbourhood and earned 10pounds a week. By the time he got enough money to buy himself a NIKE trainers and wear it to school, he was overwhelmed by the kind of attention he received and thus started a quest to make more money. He ventured into event organizing in school and diversify into various jobs. He had a cleaning company by 19 years which he sold at age 24 when he accidentally stumbled on ringtone creation. By 25, he made his first million. And from then on there’s no stopping him.

Alexander was awarded Young Entrepreneur of The Year at the Institute of Directors by Black Enterprise Awards 2002, Africa’s Best Award at the GAB Awards 2003, also receiving London African Caribbean Entrepreneurs Award 2004. For a second year in a row, Mr. Alexander Amosu is on the top Britain’s 100 most influential black Britons. He is now in Guinness World Records books for creating the world most expensive suit. He was also awarded with the honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration by his old university London Metropolitan University. He is also interested in Charities and is the first person to create a Free Ringtones Day and donated the proceeds from over 75, 000 orders in one day to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

He is back home to launch his line of luxury products with the support of MTN who say they are identifying with him because his success story is similar to theirs. According to Mr. Kolawole Oyeyemi, General Manager Consumer Marketing, MTN, “MTN believes in achieving the dreams of its customers and this same desire is also what drives Mr. Amosu. He is an example of a true Nigerian and we are proud to be associated with him.”

Alexander Amosu Collections and the world’s most expensive suit would be unveiled at a secret location in Lagos on December 5, 2009 and even though he has already stated that he is not here to sell, Nigerians have always risen to any challenge and nobody, least of all a son of the soil, has ever brought in quality products into the country without making a sale.

The 11 Most Dangerous Borders In The World! African borders made list by atoluwash(m) : 8:52 pm On Jun 26, 2017

11. Iraq/Iran

One of the most dangerous borders in the world lies between Iraq and Iran, running exactly from the Shatt-al-Arab river to the Turkish border. Though the boundary has been defined for hundreds of years, disputes over the territory (specifically, over use of the river) have been ongoing. In 1980, Iraq accused Iran of illegally occupying Iraqi territory and launched missiles. Eight years and 1 million lives later, the two countries signed a UN peace resolution. Even this, however, did not stop fighting, and cross-border attacks have continued.
10. Pakistan/Afghanistan

The border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is called the Durand Line and stretches for 1,510 miles. The disputes here date back over many years and in recent times, the border was disputed by the Taliban and later the Afghanistan president in 2001. In 2003, military forces from both sides were involved in armed conflict there and 4 years later, Pakistan began constructing fence lines as a means to keep Taliban militants from crossing. The danger here is in the lack of government control with people on all side carrying arms, and this site sees illegal smuggling, murders, and kidnappings. Most recently, a major highway connecting the two countries was closed down due to a disagreement over a Pakistani-constructed gate. The dispute ended in cross-border shootings that left 3 dead and 24 wounded.
9. China/North Korea

China and North Korea are separated by two rivers, the Tumen and Yalu, and the Paektu mountains. The border here has poor security and receives many people fleeing North Korea. Over the last decade, both countries have begun to construct fences and walls. Since the beginning of Kim Jong-Il’s regime and with increased North Korean immigrants in China, territorial disputes have become a concern. There have also been reports of North Korean soldiers crossing the border to steal food and money as low-level officers receive small food rations. In April 2016, China deployed around 2,000 troops to the border after reports that Pyongyang is planning nuclear testing. China has confirmed that 3 Chinese citizens were killed along the border, investigations are pending.
8. Colombia/Ecuador

Disputes between Colombia and Ecuador have increased in recent years due to a Colombian rebel group referred to as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (the People’s Army or FARC). On various occasions, the Colombian government has sent military troops into Ecuadorian territory in an attempt to attack the group. FARC members have invaded land along the border and are an extremely violent group using mortars and landmines which have forced thousands of indigenous members off of their tribal land. This group is responsible for killing over 200,000 people in the last fifty years. Recent murder rates in border towns have reached as high as 96 per 100,000 people. Because the Ecuadorian president argued that Colombian military had no permission to cross the border, the Colombian government has accused Ecuador of harboring terrorists. Ecuador has since increased efforts to remove FARC.
7. Niger/Chad

One of the deadliest terror groups in the world, the insurgency of Boko Haram, can be found along the Niger-Chad border. To fight this group, Chad has sent 2,000 troops to a border town located, Bosso, on the Niger side. Violence in this town has sent more than 17,000 people fleeing. Since the arrival of the troops, 32 soldiers (30 from Chad and 2 from Niger and 55 terrorists have lost their lives. These two countries have had joint army operations since the beginning of 2015.
6. Yemen/Saudi Arabia

The 1,100-mile border between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has seen very high levels of violence. The two countries have experienced violent conflict for the last 65 years. Saudi Arabia has seen an increase in smuggled weapons, Al Qaeda terrorists, and economic refugees (from Ethiopia, Yemen, and Somalia) that prompted the government to build a wall. Yemen opposes the barrier stating that it infringes upon shepherd grazing rights. The two countries have officially been at war since March 2015. An estimated 6,000 civilians and soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the war. In one day alone, 15 missiles and 130 mortars are launched into Saudi Arabia.
5. Bangladesh/India

Bangladesh and India share a 2,545 mile long border, one of the longest in the world. The border is intricate and made up of confusing enclaves, sometimes with Indian land surrounded by Bangladeshi territory within Indian territory! It is a common route for smuggled goods from India to Bangladesh and undocumented immigrants from Bangladesh to India. Due to the high levels of immigration, Indian Border Security Forces have a shoot on sight policy. Although sometimes, “illegal crossings” are a result of the complicated border lines and is an attempt to reach separate Bangladeshi territory. This kill on sight policy has led to over 1,000 deaths between 2000 and 2010.
4. Meixco/US

The Mexico-US border runs from California to Texas for a total of 1,989 miles, and has the highest number of legal, annual border crossings in the world. It passes near large urban areas and over desolate deserts. The approximately 20,000 border patrol agents are clustered around big cities effectively leaving the desert unguarded. This pushes the 500,000 people trying to cross the border illegally into the desert where several hundred die every year. The zone is particularly dangerous in the El Paso-Juarez region which is known for narcotics traffickers who smuggle drugs, weapons, and people over the border. Hundreds of individuals have died here after violent encounters between the police and gang groups. The violence has spread into American territory.
3. Israel/Syria

The border dispute between Israel and Syria date back many years. In the early 1920s, Britain drew the borders giving the Syrian side to France. Then again later to include the Golan Heights. It is this area that has been heavily contested for nearly 100 years. The two countries have been at war several times taking control of various pieces of land. Today, the border is a live battle zone with bullets flying from both sides. The violence has markedly increased since the Syrian Civil War began.
2. India/Pakistan

The India-Pakistan border is 1,800 miles of heavily guarded and extremely dangerous land. It is so heavily guarded that it is the only border seen from space due to the high voltage flood lights on the Indian side. Since the 1947 partition which saw hundreds of thousands die, the countries have fought in 3 other wars and spent at least 25 years disputing claims to the Kashmir province as well as a mountain glacier. The number of casualties has passed the 50,000 lives mark.
1. South Korea/North Korea

The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is the 160-mile boundary between North and South Korea. This area is heavily guarded by troops on both sides and is complete with barbed wire and active landmines. The end of the Korean War did nothing to end hostilities between the two nations, they have been warring for more than 60 years and do not recognize each other’s sovereign status. Hundreds of people have died under these tense circumstances, including American citizens. Tensions are so heavy that the DMZ was created as a sort of buffer zone to keep the countries and their respective military forces at a safe distance from each other. Anyone who tries to cross the line will be shot.

These Are Top Ten Of The Countries That Are Not In Favor Of Women by atoluwash(m) : 9:08 pm On Jun 26, 2017

It just seems that some countries are just not happy with womanhood. They look for the littlest opportunity to assault women and give them a hard time. This has been going on over the years and it seems nothing can be done to assuage the situation.
We look at some of the most shocking instances of gender inequality, compiled using data from the Thompson Reuters Foundation, the World Report 2014 and the Foundation for Sustainable Development.

Afghanistan
From an early age, life’s a struggle for Afghan girls, with 87 percent left illiterate and 70-80 percent forced into marriages (54% of girls aged between 15-19 are married, according to UNICEF). Having a family can be an ordeal in itself: with a maternal mortality ratio of 400 in 100,000 (vs 8 for the UK), and cases of domestic violence high. Afghanistan’s courts make it notoriously difficult to prosecute the latter too, as family testimony is banned.

The Democratic Republic of Congo
Congo has one of the worst records of gender based violence (GBV), with theAmerican Journal of Public Health estimating that 1,150 women are raped every day – equating to 420,000 a year. Health outcomes are inadequate for women too, with 57 percent of pregnant women reported to be anaemic.

Pakistan
Many of Pakistan’s cultural and religious practices pose a huge threat to women, particularly child and forced marriage, acid attacks and punishment by stoning. According to Pakistan’s Human Rights Commission, more than 1,000 girls and women are victims of ‘honour killings’ each year, and 90 percent face domestic violence.

India
Despite having the world’s largest democracy, famous examples of gang rape and hangings demonstrate what a perilous place India can be for women. Researchers estimate that there have been 50 million cases of female infanticide or foeticide over the last three decades. And even if you get to live, child marriage and high levels of trafficking still cast a shadow over the safety of females.

Somalia
High maternal mortality, rape, female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage are just every day concerns for a woman living in Somalia, a country typified by its lack of law and order. 95 percent of Somalia’s female inhabitants face FGM, usually around the ages of four to 11, and in their child-rearing years, only nine percent can expect to give birth in a health facility.

Colombia
GBV in Colombia is alarmingly high – in 2010, The National Institute for Legal Medicine and Forensic Science reported 45,000 cases of domestic violence against women. Still, few organised systems exist to help women and girls needing post-violence care, meaning that many do not receive appropriate medical treatment. To add insult to injury, it’s rare for GBV perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Egypt
The systematic sexual harassment of women and girls throughout Egypt is something that even casual visitors may have experienced. GBV and harassment increased in the wake of the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. In January, Egyptian groups reported that there were 19 cases of mob sexual assaults, with one victim raped with a bladed weapon. One of Egypt’s main failings when it comes to supporting women is its judicial system, which does not criminalise domestic violence, and ignores their rights when it comes to marriage, divorce, child custody and inheritance.

Kenya
Educational prospects for girls are dreadful, as they are taught at an inferior level to their counterparts. Even worse, HIV infection rates are more prevalent among the female populace – partly due to the lack of control women have over their s*x lives.

Mexico
With 4,000 cases of women disappearing in 2011-2012, and 22.7 murders for every 100,000 in Chihuahua state in 2012, you’d think the Mexican government and police would do everything possible to protect their inhabitants. Sadly women are massively let down by Mexico’s legal system, which does not protect against domestic and sexual violence.

Brazil
For a country with many things going for it, Brazil has some troubling statistics. Reports indicate that every 15 seconds a woman is assaulted, and every two hours a woman is murdered. Brazil also has a bad record when it comes to reproductive choice as its criminal code bans abortions – except in cases of rape, or where it is physically dangerous to have the baby. Women who do not meet these exceptions and have an abortion can face up to three years in jail.

Nigeria To Become 3rd Most Populous Country By 2050 – UN Report by atoluwash(m) : 9:15 pm On Jun 26, 2017

Nigeria is projected to become the world’s third most populous country by the year 2050, according to a report published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

In the report titled ‘World Population Prospects: The 2017 Revision’, the world population is set to hit 8.6 billion by 2030, 9.8 billion in 2050 and 11.2 billion in 2100 a steep increase in the current number that stands at nearly 7.6 billion.

The U.N. agency forecasts that from now through 2050, half the world’s population growth will be concentrated in just nine countries — India, Nigeria, Congo, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, United States, Uganda and Indonesia. Those nations are listed in the order of their “expected contribution to total growth,” the report said.

Nigeria, currently the world’s seventh largest country, has the fastest growing population of the 10 most populous countries worldwide, and the report projects it will surpass the U.S. shortly before mid-century.

According to the report, Africa – which has the youngest age distribution of any region – is projected to experience a rapid ageing of its population.

Although the African population will remain relatively young for several more decades, the percentage of its population aged 60 or over is expected to rise from five per cent in 2017 to around nine per cent in 2050, and then to nearly 20 per cent by the end of the century.

In addition, the birth rates in African countries are likely to “at least double” by 2050, according to the report.

Tara Lipinski Marries Fox Sports Producer Todd Kapostasy by atoluwash(m) : 9:21 pm On Jun 26, 2017

The former gold medal figure skater Tara Lipinski is a married lady!

The skater, who took home gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics, married Fox Sports producer Todd Kapostasy on Saturday, People reported. The two tied the knot at Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina.

Lipinski wore a Reem Acra gown featuring a 20-foot tulle skirt designed by Laura Basci, and Charlotte Olympia pumps, People said, adding that her bridesmaids wore floral head wreaths and the flower girls clutched baskets made by Lipinski's mom, Pat.

Lipinski posted on her Instagram page a sweet photo of the two, writing, "What a special morning. My mom gave me the most beautiful gift. From the day I was born til the day I got married she wrote in a book about our journey together as mother and daughter. Holy tears! #TNTmeant2be #weddingday."
As for Tara and Todd's big day, we've got some serious deets on their preparations:

For the bachelor/bachelorette party, Tara says it was a joint event in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She and Todd invited all of their friends to house and did a four-day wedding "pre-game" with all of their pals.

As for food at their wedding, Tara says she's going to comfort foods, nibbling on chicken and waffles with maple bacon syrup during the cocktail hour and sipping on mini late-night chocolate milkshakes with Kahlua. The star added that there will be a ton of late night snacks for wedding guests.

In regards to how long it took to find the dress of her dreams, Tara says it only took one day! Unlike most brides-to-be, she said she picked out her dress in no time at all.

As for where they're going after their wedding, Tara says the newlyweds will be having a long honeymoon, starting with the Maldives, then hitting up Thailand, Vietnam and then back to Europe again.

The 35-year-old skater got engaged to the producer in December 2015 and posted the big news to Instagram.

"My life changed forever last night," she wrote alongside a photo kissing her fiancé and showing off the big ol' sparkler. "I feel so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend and love of my life. I've had many monumental happy days in my life but this by far is my happiest. I love you."

The couple met at the 2015 Sports Emmy Awards when the ice queen presented Todd with an honor.

Congratulations, you two!

Charlie Sheen: Sued for Giving Ex-Girlfriend HIV? by atoluwash(m) : 10:04 pm On Jun 26, 2017

It's coming up on two years now since Charlie Sheen revealed to the world that he's HIV positive -- and he's been doing pretty well, right?

You know, for Charlie Sheen.

He seems to be healthy, but he's occasionally been getting into trouble and saying bizarre, troubling things.
Report this ad

Par for the course for this guy.

But while things have been going on normally for Charlie for a while now, that's all about to end, thanks to a bombshell new lawsuit.

In the court documents, an unnamed woman claims that Charlie lied about being free of STDs in order to have unprotected s*x with her.

Note: Charlie Sheen is never officially named in the suit, but the defendant is described as a man who gave televised interviews about HIV on November 17th, 2015, and June 21st, 2016.
Charlie Photo

On both of those dates, Charlie appeared on the Today show to talk about his diagnosis.
Report this ad

The woman claims that she and Charlie began dating in September of 2015, and before they had sex, she asked if he had any STDs.

He said that he didn't, that he was "fine" and she "needed to trust him."

They still waited for about two months to have unprotected sex, but immediately after they did, Charlie allegedly revealed that he was, in fact, HIV positive.

The plaintiff claims that he "threw a bag of pills on the bed," and told her that if she took them, she'd be fine.

But he also said that in reality, the pills were unnecessary, and he advised her not to believe "the convenient rumors of the medical community."

She also says that he told her he was "noble" for informing her at all, because it was "none of [her] f-cking business."

"This is more about ... not if, but when you do come down with this," he reportedly told her, "that we're together and at least we have each other."

Other times, she claims that Charlie told her he could "see the future," and he knew she'd be all right because the "apocalypse" had "cleansed" her soul.

The lawsuit isn't all that hard to believe -- Charlie himself has admitted that he hasn't always used protection, even after learning of his HIV status.

He said that he withheld that information because when he'd told previous partners about it, they attempted to blackmail him.

But still, you know, that's illegal.

In this new lawsuit, the plaintiff says that Charlie told her that he was facing other lawsuits from women he'd exposed to the virus.

He allegedly referred to those women as "assholes" and "f-cking n-----s."

Right now, it's not clear if the woman suing Charlie actually is HIV positive as a result from his actions, or if she's just suing him for exposing her.

She's suing him for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, negligent infliction of emotional distress, and fraud.
Report this ad

And if even part of what she says is true, hopefully she'll get every penny she's suing him for.

Here's How Much Money Beyonce and Jay Z Spend on Their Fabulous Rental Homes by atoluwash(m) : 11:41 pm On Jun 27, 2017

When it comes to experiencing one of Beyoncé and Jay Z's rental homes, one must be willing to fork over some bills, bills, bills.

After welcoming twins earlier this month, the proud parents are the new tenants of a lavish Malibu estate.

Sitting on 1.62 acres of land, the property is described as a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom, 12,000 square-foot estate that can cost you $400,000 a month.

As for the amenities, residents can enjoy a gourmet kitchen, movie theatre, kiddie-friendly wading pool and a guest house. Did you hear that Tina Knowles and Solange Knowles?

And if you're wishing to purchase the property and call it a lasting home, that will be $25 million, please.

Ultimately, this isn't the first house that has produced some oohs and awws from the Beyhive. When Blue Ivy Carter was able to experience her first trip to the Hamptons in the summer of 2012, mom and dad opted for a 31,000 square-foot property to rent.

The estate was perfect for a summer adventurer thanks to a rock-climbing wall, virtual golf course, two-lane bowling alley and 60-foot heated pool with an underwater stereo system.

As for the price tag, the New York Post reported that the family would be putting down $400,000 in rent money to stay at the $43.5 million mansion.

Back on the West Coast, Beyoncé chose a special property during Super Bowl weekend. Before and after singing at the halftime show, the "Crazy in Love" singer enjoyed a $10,000-a-night 12-acre estate in the Los Altos Hills of California.

And for those who think they could never stay in such a fabulous home, the space is available on Airbnb.

Perhaps the property that really catches our eyes is a mansion near Bel Air that reportedly cost somewhere in the $200,000 range. Sitting on 1.32 acres of land, the property has also been featured on Bravo's Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles”when the Carters don't call it home, of course.

While this is only a taste of the places Beyoncé and her family have called home, we can already tell the Grammy winner likes her space and privacy. And considering all of her accomplishments in and out of the music industry, we say she deserves it all.

African ‘Students’ Top The List of Foreign Drug Offenders In Malaysia!! by atoluwash(m) : 11:57 pm On Jun 27, 2017

More Nigerian “students” are being hauled up over drug crimes nationwide than other foreign students, according to Bukit Aman.

Federal police records show that of the 358 foreign students arrested since 2015, more than one third of them were Nigerians.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director, Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff, said 122 Nigerians were arrested from January 2015 until May this year.

“We arrested 33 in 2015 but last year, that number almost doubled to 63 and it looks like the number will increase again this year,” he said when contacted.

He said from January to May this year, 26 Nigerians had already been arrested. “These foreigners think that they can come in under the pretence of studying and make easy money distributing drugs.

They are not just ruining their lives but also the lives of Malaysians,” he said, adding that his department was committed to taking down drug syndicates using all available laws against these individuals.

“We are hunting for about 170 individuals. We know that some of them have fled the country like cowards. You can run, but sooner or later we will find you,” said Comm Mohd Mokhtar. Crdt: TheSta

In Kenya $12Million Bridge Collapses Just 2Weeks After Presidential Inspection by atoluwash(m) : 12:03 am On Jun 28, 2017

A bridge undergoing construction has collapsed just about two weeks after a presidential inspection at the site.

A Kenyan bridge that is being constructed at a cost of $12m has collapsed.
It is being constructed by the Chinese Overseas Construction and Engineering Company.
The bridge collapsed two weeks after the president visited the site to examine the ongoing work.
The construction of the bridge was approved after the event of August 30, 2014, when 11 people perished after a boat they had boarded capsized, killing everyone on board as they attempted to cross the river, Africa Review says.
The bridge, which is being constructed in Kenya’s Budalang’i Constituency near the border with Uganda, collapsed a fortnight after President Uhuru Kenyatta inspected it.
One of the victims of the boat capsize was Brian Juma, a JSS3 student whose burial, among other victims, was attended by President Kenyatta who then promised that a bridge would be constructed to avert such deaths.
The cause of the collapse is yet unknown, though it is suspected that the construction was hurriedly done ahead of the president’s visit.
During the inspection, Project Manager, Jerome Xzue Hua, said they were focusing their attention on the concrete slab and embankment.

“We did not focus much on road construction on the northern side because the most critical point of construction is the bridge’s slab.
“We expect to complete the bitumen work at the end of June for the entire three kilometres for both the northern and southern parts,” he had said.
But for the current mishap, the project was expected to be completed by the end of July.
During President Kenyatta’s tour, area MP Ababu Namwamba said the bridge was a blessing to residents since it would significantly reduce deaths by drowning, and make it easier for people to access markets, schools and hospitals on either side.
Mr. Namwamba has been using the bridge as a campaign tool for his re-election for a third term and even broke ranks with opposition chief Raila Odinga to join forces with President Kenyatta through his Labour Party of Kenya.

Meet 65yrs Old Man Mustafa With His 13 Wives, 176 Children, 90 Grandkids & 10 Co by atoluwash(m) : 12:12 am On Jun 28, 2017

If you are looking for the ‘most fruitful’ man in Africa, you would have to travel all the way down to Uganda to meet 65-year- old Mustafa Magambo Mutone. He’s a proud father of 176 children, 90 grandchildren and has 13 wives and 10 girlfriends.

According to Mustafa, he’s having financial challenges to train all of them and wants the Government to support some of his 176 children.
Quote
“I have tried to feed my 13 wives and over 170 children and it is not easy.

I request the Government to at least sponsor 30 of my children in secondary schools and tertiary institutions,” Mutone, a businessman and a resident of Kyaterekera trading centre in Kagadi district, said.
He added that he has over 40 children in primary school and has plans to establish his own nursery and primary school in Kyaterekera sub-county. He says he has about 10 children in the universities (Makerere, Mbarara and Kyambogo), most of them on private sponsorship. Mutone has five pairs of twins among his children. His children will hit the 180 mark by the end of the year because six of his wives are pregnant.

Mutone, a Mubwisi by tribe, is the chairman of Kyaterekera A village. He was born on January 1, 1952 in Kiryabwenju, Nyamiti parish, Muhorro town council in Kagadi district. His first marriage was in 1968 at 16 years of age.

In an interview with Ugandan’s New Vision, he explained that he is still strong enough to marry more wives and bear more children, since he does not drink alcohol, smoke or take sugar.

Mutone, who deals in produce (beans, maize and coffee), also owns a wholesale shop at Kyaterekera trading centre. He says some of his wives are working as midwives at Mulago Hospital and Mbarara Hospital and in Rwanda.
“Two of my wives who gave birth to twins are in Kampala and Isingiro, working as midwives, while another two — Haniffer Kabasomi and Jane Tuhaise — work as nurses. My youngest wife is 25, and the eldest is 50, but I had about 10 girlfriends before I married officially and they all delivered the same year,” Mutone said.
According to him, his first born child is 49 years old, while the youngest are four-year-old twins. He further noted that he has over 90 grandchildren. The grey-haired Mutone, said he has a special book where he records every child born whether within the country or outside, because he has some wives in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi.

He said one of the challenges he faces is the long distance as some of his women live in different parts of the country.
Quote
‘’I receive about 10 calls every day from different wives who want attention but I cannot be everywhere. I have seven wives in Kagadi alone,” he said. “I do not have any challenge of supporting them because some of them support themselves since they work,”

Mutone said.

Madina Tibasiima, 45, one of his wives who has nine children, said she has not faced any problems with a big family because most of her children are working as soldiers, civil servants, and nurses. She, however, said her younger children need school fees; some are in primary school and others in secondary school.

One of Mutone’s sons, Kyaise Suwedi, 40, the Gombolola internal security officer of Kyaterekera, said his monthly salary caters for some of his brothers’ education.
“We were groomed by our father to be responsible, have good morals and work hard. The only challenge is the big number of dependants of other wives who have children aged between four and 13 years,’’ Kyaise said.
While another son, Muhamad Byarufu, aged 45, said he owns a business and helps pay school fees of some of his younger brothers.
“We have a programme of starting up a school with our father, since some of my brothers are teachers. We will not find a problem hiring teachers and having pupils to teach. Some of my young brothers are in primary elsewhere and some children of our stepmothers are of school-going age. They can fill the classes,’’ he said.

Two months ago, we also reported about a Ugandan lady identified as Mariam Nabatanzi Babirye who has 38 children, most of them twins, triplets and quadruplets and she gave birth to all of them at home.

Incoming Georgetown Student Struggles To Pay For School That Sold Her Family by atoluwash(m) : 12:25 am On Jun 28, 2017

Elizabeth Thomas’ mother used to push her and her kin’s strollers through Georgetown University’s grounds when they were little children.

Her mother, Sandra, felt an exceptional association with the grounds that was puzzling at the time, when they had their second home in Washington, D.C. It wouldn’t be until the point that 2016 that Thomas would discover her mother’s association with the college was a great deal more than shallow.

When New York Times writer Rachel Swarns wrote about the enslaved men, women and children the university sold in 1838, she noted that some of them ended up in Maringouin, Louisiana, the Thomases’ hometown. When Sandra noticed the mention of her small town in Swarns’ story, she decided to read the slave manifesto and came across two familiar names: Sam and Betsy Harris.

Upon learning that her great-great-great-grandparents were two of the 272 slaves sold by Jesuit priests to keep Georgetown’s doors open, Elizabeth, 23, went through a roller coaster of emotions.

“Almost every African American in this country has some idea that they possibly came from slavery or more than likely did. But actually knowing the story ― and I was raised Catholic, I went to Catholic high school, so I know the Catholic Church isn’t perfect by any means ― but just having that whole story directly related to my family was really, really sad at first,” Elizabeth told HuffPost. “[It’s] really disheartening to think what my ancestors had to go through just to make it. Not just to survive through slavery but then to survive all the way to Louisiana, how mentally and physically strong they must have been.”

Since Swarns’ story was published in April 2016 ― sparked by on-campus protests against racial injustice ― and gained widespread attention, the university has been taking steps to atone for its role in slavery. The following summer, President John J. DeGioia began meeting with the descendants of those sold into slavery (or the GU272 Descendants Association), led by Sandra.

THE WASHINGTON POST VIA GETTY IMAGES
The university held a Liturgy of Remembrance, Contrition and Hope on the campus to issue a formal apology and rededicate one of its buildings to a former slave.

Along with a formal apology, the school decided to rededicate the buildings that were previously named after the Jesuits involved in the sales to honor the enslaved men and women. Georgetown also announced that they would offer preferential status to the descendants of the 272 slaves, which caught Elizabeth’s attention.

Elizabeth, a Louisiana State University alumna, applied for Georgetown’s graduate journalism program in April. There wasn’t an option for applicants to declare that they were descendants of the slaves Georgetown sold, so she wrote about it in her essay. Just recently, she received her acceptance letter. Her brother Shepard, a current freshman at Louisiana State University, applied and was also accepted.

“I never thought I was gonna be able to go to Georgetown. Not because I’m not academically smart, but I just know it’s such a prestigious school to get into,” she told HuffPost. “So now being here today, being accepted into this school, that in itself is super exciting. So I had this exciting moment, and then rededicating two of the buildings on the campus and my mom going up there being able to speak, it was so incredible. But now, I’m kind of in a stage where OK, I’ve been accepted into the school but there’s no scholarship opportunities.”

GOFUNDME
Elizabeth Thomas is asking for $30,000 to help her get to Georgetown.

Elizabeth said that she was under the impression that Georgetown would be providing at least some financial assistance to the descendants. But after talks with financial aid, she learned that the school is only offering her loans. She said Shepard is receiving scholarships from Georgetown, but none related to their family’s connection to the school.

Elizabeth said this news is disappointing to her, especially since her mother, a widow with five children, does not have the means to send all of her children to school at the same time.

The average cost for graduate candidates in Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies is $42,830 per semester. Elizabeth plans on finishing her degree within three semesters.

A university spokesperson told HuffPost that they’ve received “a small number of applications this cycle from descendants and there have been positive admissions decisions.” The spokesperson didn’t give a specific number, but outlined the school’s efforts to atone for its past, none of which involved providing scholarships to descendants.

Elizabeth isn’t bitter about this, however. She is still enthused about enrolling in classes for January 2018 and stepping on campus for the first time since she was a young child. She launched a GoFundMe to help offset some of her expenses, which include tuition, moving and housing costs. So far, she’s raised just under $1,000 of her $30,000 goal.

Elizabeth said she is happy that Georgetown has started taking steps to address its racist history, but she hopes the efforts continue.

“I feel like this is a good start and I hope that if we continue, if the descendant group continues communications with Georgetown, we can push them further,” she said. “I think it’s just about doing what’s right and I think definitely more can be done. This is a start, but I definitely don’t think it’s enough, what they’ve done, to compensate for the things that my ancestors provided to the Jesuits and to Georgetown.”

South Africa’s Church Bars Blacks From Attending Service by atoluwash(m) : 12:47 am On Jun 28, 2017

A South Africa’s Church has barred blacks from attending service as the church on Sunday disallowed two black journalists from entering. The Afrikaanse Protestante Kerk church in Orania, told the journalists “the church is only for whites”.

Orania is an Afrikaans-only South African town located along the banks of the Orange River, in the arid Karoo region of the Northern Cape Province.

The journalists were on an assignment and decided to attend a Sunday service before returning to Pretoria but they were intercepted by a church leader, identified as Mr Theunis Oukamp, at the door.

According to Africa Review, Oukamp said allowing black people into an all-white church would be violating the “rights of Afrikaans people”. “I am now in a difficult situation. You know that Orania is only for white people, this is why we are here.

.

.

You must understand I know you want to serve God and everything but I have to protect the rights of Afrikaans people. So I cannot let you in, you guys can go to any other church, but this one is only for white people,” Mr Oukamp told the journalists.

Mr Langton Ndlovu, a Christian, described the move as ‘diabolical’. “This is demonic, in this day and age, I never thought this was real. That’s unacceptable. I wonder how they read the scripture that says “there is neither Greek nor Jew” but we’re one in Christ,” said Mr Ndlovu.

The president of the South Africa Union Council of Independent Churches, Archbishop Modiri Patrick Shole, expressed shock that there was still segregation in the body of Christ, 23 years after apartheid ended.

“We don’t discriminate in church because before God we are one – whether white or black. I find it weird that we still have discrimination in the church,” he said.

Meet The Youngest Ireland’s Leader And The First Ever Gay Prime Minister by atoluwash(m) : 1:02 am On Jun 28, 2017

The leadership election of Fine Gale for the year 2017 was held in May and the son of an Indian immigrant, Leo Varadkar, 38, made a clear win. He was sworn in last week.

Later this month, the Parliament of Ireland will resume and Ireland will have its first 38-year-old gay prime minister. He will also become Ireland’s youngest leader.

Read on to know about him.

Varadkar is said to be the symbol of new and progressive Ireland especially after the Republic of Ireland voted for gay marriage in May 2015.

The two-week electoral contest also made the media spectators call him, “The Thatcherite” candidate after his comments during the election campaigns revolved round conservative, centre-right politics. He received support from LGBT groups in Ireland.
Varadkar’s ideology

Brian Finnegan, who is the editor of Gay Community News in Dublin, said, “I think it’s really significant that both his (Varadkar) party and the media in Ireland focused on his policies, rather than him simply being a gay man who wants to lead the country.”
Political past from 2004
Varadkar who graduated as a medical doctor from Trinity College Dublin entered Irish politics in 2004. He won the Dublin West constituency by almost 5,000 votes in the local government elections.
After the losses suffered by the political party Fine Gael in 2016, Leo stepped down as Ireland’s health minister. He then became minister for social protection after becoming a part of minority coalition.
Outgoing PM’s support
Irish PM elect has Mumbai connect

Kenny who led the government for 15 years said, “This is a tremendous honour for him (Leo Varadkar) and I know he will devote his life to improving the lives of people across our country.”
Irish PM elect has Mumbai connect

Some were surprised as to how the gay minister was able to win the election against Simon who enjoyed a strong grass root support. The Fine Gael parliamentary party has 73 TDs (members of the Irish assembly), senators and MEPs (Member of the European Parliament), got 65% of the votes.

Leo was only able to surpass Simon’s vote with the help of majority parliamentarian college votes that went in his favour.

African Men,This Is Why You Should Never Consider Marrying A Bleacher by atoluwash(m) : 1:15 am On Jun 28, 2017

Fair skin is very popular in African countries, so women try to bleach and become more attractive. Here is why you should never ever marry a bleacher! And that’s hard to do, as over 70 percent of women in Africa bleach their skin!

Bleachers look good, while you date them. Inevitably, when we date, we try to show the best versions of self to our partners. And that’s enjoyable, but when you marry the person, you get it all: the good, the bad and the ugly.

And the ugly you see only when she takes off all the makeup! That mostly happens after the wedding, as she would not take the risks of it. Bleachers severely damage their skin. They can even end up having skin cancer or ugly ulcers on their face, hands and other body parts. Bleaching is popular but very dangerous.

Some men complain that when their wives take off the makeup, they are scared to look at them. The turn into ghostly creatures and the people do not even wish to share the same bed with them.

Moreover, these women need many expensive skin treatment creams and makeup stuff. Paying for her bills can be costly. You would be forced to give her that money if you wish the woman to look decent in the public.

And bleaching can quickly become an addiction. Women have a hard time stopping doing it. They spend half of their husband’s income on the new remedies and treatments. They ruin their health and their family budgets, too.

So, after all, natural beauty pays off well. Bleaching may be fashionable, but it is unnatural and harmful. Do not buy into the fair skin beauties if you know they are bleaching. Now you have some good reasons not to marry one.

7 Crazy Things African Women Do Just To Look Good Before Men by atoluwash(m) : 1:27 am On Jun 28, 2017

Most women are willing to go an extra mile to look their best. At times they do things that look freaky or even crazy. This list will amaze or even shock you!

Freaky things ladies do to look their best:

Body is just a part of the personality, but in our world, women have to look hot to get male attention and success in life. So, some girls do crazy things for the sake of beautifying themselves.

1. Snake massage

They do it in Israel. You visit a beauty salon, undress and lie down. They take a bunch of snakes and put it on your naked back or other body parts. The snakes crawl on you and massage your body. They believe such a massage has a calming effect on people. Isn’t that crazy? Most people would freak out touching a snake!

2. 6utt lifts

We’ve got used to the face lifts, but 6utt lifts are something new. Lately, this female body part has come into fashion. Men go crazy over bums. So, some ladies make them bigger, while others keep them up to prevent aging.

3. Face masks

Most girls use natural ingredients for these, but some of them make extreme facials. For instance, they pay over 500 US dollars for a mask made out of human placenta!

4. Labiaplasty

This simply means they make a surgery on vaginas to get them pretty looking! Can you imagine that? Well, apparently both the p3n!s and the v*gina are not the prettiest body parts. They are just pure sexy and that’s all they need to be!

5. Fish manicures

They use the garra rufa fish eating off the dead skin from your feet!

6. Hair extensions
