APC vows to appeal judgement as court sacks Oyetola, deputy by ChaleneLucy(f) : 5:27 pm On Oct 03, 2022

The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State chapter, Prince Gboyega Famodun, has enjoined all the members of the party and supporters to put their minds at rest over the Federal High Court, Abuja, ruling over the nomination of Governor Gboyega Oyetola as the candidate of the party in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

The federal High Court nullified the nomination of Oyetola and his Deputy, Benedict Alabi on the ground that Governor Mai Buni, who submitted their names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) violated the provisions of Nigeria constitution.

Buni, according to the court, violated Section 183 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Section 82(3) of the Electoral Act 2022.

Reacting to the judgment, the APC chairman in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Kola Olabisi, blamed the the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly trying to put the APC in disarray.

The exercise, Famodun said, was a mere distraction ploy by the PDP to disorganise and put the APC in disarray on the grounds that opposition’s handlers were aware of the brighter chance of the APC and its candidate in the ongoing governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo.

Famodun accused the PDP of instituting the case against the APC candidate, however, appealed to the party members and supporters to remain calm, explaining that the team of the party lawyers would be challenging the decision at the Court of Appeal.

He argued that only the members of the APC who participated in the primary election have the legal authority to challenge the nomination of candidate of the party.

Fani-Kayode blasts Atiku, Peter Obi’s supporters over reports on Tinubu by ChaleneLucy(f) : 7:13 am On Oct 07, 2022

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Femi Fani-Kayode, has berated those claiming that the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu was ill or dead.

Fani-Kayode said those claiming Tinubu was ill or dead would be put to shame.

In a series of tweets, the former Aviation Minister insisted that Tinubu was alive, well, and fit for the presidential battle.

He wrote: “Those that say BAT is either ill or dead shall be put to shame. Not only is he alive and well but he is also fit and ready to lead us into battle. Those that rejoice in such evil reports shall fall into the pit they dug for Jagaban. To their evil thoughts we say: BACK TO SENDER!

“To all the BATmen and BATwomen out there: fear not the noisesome pestilence, vile words and evil thoughts of the ATIKUvibrators and OBIdients.

“Let them continue to insult us, misrepresent us and vent their spleen because their time is short and that is all they have. Whilst they are insulting, we are preparing.

“Whilst they are scheming, we are working. Whilst they are howling, we are planning. Whilst they are barking, we are plotting. When we kick off our campaign water will find its level.” [sic].

This is coming amid speculations that the former Lagos Governor is receiving medical attention in the United Kingdom.

Recall that following Tinubu’s absence from several political functions in the country recently, he was rumoured to be sick and hospitalized in London.

However, the 2023 presidential hopeful had in an effort to debunk the speculation, released a video of himself via his official Twitter handle to prove that he is alive and well.

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court in Abuja has been told how the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, was verbally and physically abused by her husband.

Osinachi’s former Personal Assistant, Adetunji Moses, told the court that Nwachukwu, on different occasions, referred to the late singer as useless, lazy and indolent.

Led by the prosecution counsel, Yewande Gbola- Awopetu, Moses said he worked with the defendant and his wife as a PA and also a key boardist from September 2018 to March 2021.

He said:” On another occasion, we were to travel to Zimbabwe for ministration and that morning, Nwachukwu got into an argument with his mother-in-law who was visiting at the time and due to the altercation, we missed our flight.

“He tried to book us on another flight, but to no avail and on our way back from the airport, having missed our flight, it was a serious battle as Nwachukwu kept abusing his wife verbally.

“He told her that her family members were around to hinder our progress, to shut the door of the ministry and the blessings of God.”

After listening to the testimony, Justice Njideka Nwosu-Iheme, adjourned the matter until Thursday for the continuation of trial.

Oil Theft Conundrum: Alibi to justify FG’s revenue shortfall – Expert by ChaleneLucy(f) : 3:27 am On Oct 15, 2022

After the discovery of crude oil in commercial quantity in Oloibiri Bayelsa State, the challenge of oil theft has persisted untamed. From the creeks in Delta to those in Bayelsa State, the illegal business of oil bunkering lingers.

Year after year, oil theft has continued to be a source of worry to the Nigerian government.

Meanwhile, there has been a fresh onslaught against perpetrators of oil bunkering and vandalism in the Niger Delta region, led by Operatives of Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSL), a company owned by ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo.

Tompolo had recently told reporters that there are 58 illegal points in Delta and Bayelsa States where crude oil is being stolen.

However, speaking on the recent surge against oil theft, an expert has told DAILY POST that the ‘renewed’ clampdown could be a deliberate effort by the federal government to justify its oil revenue shortfall in the period under review.

In the first quarter of this year, the federal government said the country lost N1.3 trillion to crude oil vandalism and theft in the Niger Delta region.

Another government figure has it that monthly, the country loses over N304 billion naira to oil theft and vandalism.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) revealed that most oil theft activities emanate from Bonny Terminal Network, Forcados Terminal Network and Brass Terminal Network. The Implication of the activities of oil theft has far-reaching negative effects on the Nigerian economy.

Nigeria’s frequent failure to meet its oil production quota set by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC); Revenue depletion; environmental degradation are the evidential implication of oil theft.

Reacting to the development in a chat with DAILY POST on Friday, an oil and gas analyst, Mr Charles Majomi said the amount of oil theft taking place in the Niger Delta creeks cannot be done without the connivance of senior government officials in Nigeria.

He disclosed that if the government genuinely wants to tackle the menace, a transparent and thorough investigation by third parties, unconnected to state apparatus should be set up.

“One has to wonder at the timing. This scourge did not start today and has been ongoing for years. So it might be. Coupled with the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any credible ongoing efforts to bring the culprits to book”, Majomi noted.

As a way out, he suggested, “A transparent and thorough investigation by third parties, unconnected to the apparatus of State.

“If, as we have been made to believe, this is an industrial scale exercise comprising multiple elements from the security services, the NNPC and International Oil Companies (IOC’s), it hardly makes sense for those same elements to be the ones conducting the investigation.

Nnamdi Kanu: We won’t take such barbarism from you – IPOB warns Malami by ChaleneLucy(f) : 3:44 am On Oct 15, 2022

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Friday, disclosed why the Appeal Court in Abuja discharged and acquitted its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, of terrorism charges.

IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, said the Appeal Court in Abuja discharged and acquitted Kanu due to executive rascality.

Reacting to the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami’s remark that Kanu was only discharged and not acquitted, Powerful said the Minister must be daft to have interpreted the law otherwise.

In a statement, Powerful vowed that IPOB would not take such legal barbarism from Malami.

The statement reads partly: “The Appeals Court discharged and acquitted our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU from all charges against him because of Nigeria’s executive rascality in kidnapping and extraordinarily renditioning him from Kenya to Nigeria.

“But for the Attorney General, Malami and DSS Agents to interpret the ruling otherwise means that they are either legally daft or they want to be above the Nigeria constitution that they claim to uphold. We in IPOB will not take such legal barbarism from Malami and those he represents lying down.

“We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the leadership and command of Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU wish to commend the Appeals Court Judges for their boldness in the landmark ruling that has taken sleep away from Attorney General of Nigeria and DSS’s eyes.

“We equally appreciate our indomitable team of lawyers Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, Barrister Nnaemeka Ejiofor, Barrister maxwell Okpara and others led by Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

“We thank all of you who never capitulated until this legal victory was achieved. By now the Nigeria Federal Government, Attorney General, and Department of State Services should understand that God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama is behind what we are doing and nothing will stop us from getting Biafra at the table where everybody will rejoice. The earlier they schedule a date for the Referendum the better for all of us.”

National Awards was uncalled for, embarrassing – COSEYL blasts Buhari by ChaleneLucy(f) : 3:46 am On Oct 15, 2022

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has expressed disappointment over the National Awards Honours conferred on some Nigerians and foreigners by President Muhammadu Buhari.

DAILY POST recalls that President Buhari on Tuesday conferred national awards of the Commander of the Order of Niger, CON and Commander Of the Order Of the Federal Republic (CFR) on selected citizens who had contributed to national development.

Reacting, COSEYL said in a statement issued by its President General, Goodluck Ibem that the move was unnecessary following the security and economic crisis bedevilling the nation.

The statement reads, “The award amounts to dancing on the graves of Nigerians who died hungry and killed by Boko Haram and other terrorists. No nation celebrates when her people are killed mercilessly.

“It baffles us that in the midst of all these anomalies, the government of President Muhammadu Buhari was busy giving National Awards to Nigerians.

“Without mincing words, this award is an insult and a national embarrassment to Nigerians killed by Fulani Jihadists and terrorist groups.

“It is an embarrassment to those who are now refugees in their own country and an insult to those who are going to bed hungry under the very watch of this present administration.

“We call on Nigerians who have any integrity left in them to return those awards until when things are done properly before they can consider accepting any National Awards”.

Reject same faith ticket to avoid divide and rule – Former Gov, Babangida by ChaleneLucy(f) : 5:36 am On Oct 25, 2022

Former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has urged the electorates to resist the same falth ticket in the forthcoming general elections, noting it would encourage divide and rule.

Aliyu who stated this while receiving the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku/Okowa presidential group at his residence in Minna said the Muslim -Muslim ticket is a taboo to Nigeria’s Unity.

He argued that Muslim candidates as President and Vice President will no doubt be described as a time bomb to the unity of the country and amount to injustice, lack of fairness and equity.

The former governor said Nigeria consist of two major religious faith, Christianity and Islam, and such tendency will throw the country into more chaos considering the circumstances, we found ourselves in the past seven years”

“As a nationalist, and a Muslem, such is a sentiment that would encourage divide and rule without a sense of reasoning and respect for Christians and pleaded with all well meaning Nigerians to reject the same faith ticket in its entirety,” he maintained.

Aliyu called on members of the Atiku/Okowa support group to intensify efforts at educating Nigerians, especially the electorate on the need for religious tolerance in its practical terms.

According to him, as a Muslim, I would not have thought of voting for anything like Christian/Christian ticket and I wondered why the ruling party would ever conceive what they would not take if presented to any of them individually or collectively”.

“And, anybody who is supporting same faith ticket, be it Muslim or Christian, does not mean well for Nigeria because doing so only amounts to promoting; injustice, lack of fairness and equity for adherents of other religions”.

Earlier, the leader of the group led by, Hassan Bagudu thanked Dr. Babangida Aliyu for his active support of the Atiku/Okowa campaign organisation not only in Niger state but across the country.

He also expressed hope that Nigerians would make the right choice by voting the PDP come February, 2023 in the general elections while calling on the former governor to work for the success of the party both at State and presidential elections.

Nnamdi Kanu: You are destroying judiciary over selfishness – HURIWA by ChaleneLucy(f) : 5:41 am On Oct 25, 2022

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has told the hierarchy of the judiciary that they are destroying the judicial arm of government for their selfish reasons by letting the federal government impugn the integrity of the court system.

HURIWA said this while blasting the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal for even admitting the appeal filed by President Muhammadu Buhari and what it describes as the disrespectful application for stay of execution against a clearly binding verdict of the Court of Appeal freeing Nnamdi Kanu, saying it was a clear breach of section 6 of the Nigerian Constitution.

The group expressed disappointment that rather than mount pressure on Buhari to honour his constitutional Oath of office and obey a binding judgment of a competent court of jurisdiction, the apex Igbo cultural group –Ohanaeze is going cap- in-hand to Aso Rock Villa to beg for political solution as if the courts are no longer relevant.

HURIWA further carpeted the hierarchy of the Appellate court, accusing it of becoming political by sending on transfer from Abuja the justices that courageously determined the Appeal by Nnamdi Kanu and quashed all charges initiated illegally by Abubakar Malami, Buhari’s Attorney General.

“We expected all right thinking Nigerians to initiate international and local advocacy campaigns for the sake of the image of Nigeria and the health and well being of the judicial arm of government to get president Buhari to obey the Appeal Court and free Nnamdi Kanu before appealing at the supreme court, some politicians and the Igbo socio-cultural respected global body – the OHANAEZE NDI IGBO is begging Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu who is already suffering from suspected terminal health challenges allegedly contracted whilst in detention,” the group said in a statement signed by Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, its national coordinator.

HURIWA said its intervention on the matter is on the side of justice and constitutionalism and not about the Ethnicity of the detained leader of Kanu.

The South East caucuses in both chambers of the National Assembly, last week, appealed to the government to release the IPOB leader.

Igbo leader, Chief Ezeife also expressed optimism that Kanu would soon be a free man.

On a very sad note, HURIWA recalled that the three Justices that sat on the Court of Appeal panel that quashed the 15-count terrorism charge the Federal Government preferred against Kanu, have been transferred from their various divisions.

Investigation by the media revealed that the three appellate court justices were transferred, four days after they delivered the judgment that discharged the embattled IPOB leader.

Whereas the presiding Justice, Jummai Hanatu Sankey, who was hitherto in the Gombe Division of the court, has been moved to Awka Division, Justice Oludotun Adetope-Okojie who delivered the lead judgment, was transferred to Owerri, while the third member of the panel, Justice Ebiowei Tobi, was moved to Gombe.

A memo dated October 17, which was signed by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, stressed that the new posting for the justices was with immediate effect as they were expected to report to their new stations by October 21.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will today (Monday), hear the appeal FG filed to set aside the judgment that freed Kanu.

HURIWA, therefore, reminding the President of the Court of Appeal who has now decided to be a politician by witch-hunting justices of her Court for deciding a matter by Nnamdi Kanu purely on point of law and not point of AREWA SENTIMENTS just as HURIWA said history does not forget any act of treachery whatever and whenever it happens.

Popular Nigerian transgender and fashion enthusiast Daniel Anthony Nsikan, known as Jay Boogie, has cried out for help over the impact of his botched Brazilian 6utt Lift (BBL).

DAILY POST reports that Jay Boogie urged the public a week ago, in a series of posts on Instagram, to hold a surgeon identified as Dinma of Curvy Girl Essentials Clinic responsible if anything happens to him.

However, on Thursday, during an Instagram live session with a Nigerian doctor based in Namibia, Loveth Jennifer, the transgender lamented that he is bankrupt and struggling to stay alive following kidney damage sustained during the surgery.

“Nobody is donating funds anymore; my condition is getting worse, and all my life savings have been going on dialysis and diapers,” he said.

“I pray it doesn’t take my life. My career has been messed up. How do I take care of my siblings?”

Also, in a statement on his page on Friday, he appealed to the public for donations to help him pay medical bills.

The post reads: “Ever since 1st of November I have been on dialysis and treatment of sepsis. I have exhausted my life savings in this course of treatment. I have received funds from the Nigerian plastic surgery community and few friends. I am writing to request financial assistance for continuous medical treatment in order to recover.”
