Education is a commonly use term which has various meaning to various people yet it is a very important concept to the society WHAT IS EDUCATION The meaning of education can not be definite as it means different things to different people depending on their perception of what it is There are cases where education are taken to mean knowledge, enlightenment or wisdom Education in general terms is the process of transmitting societal lores, values and desirable attitude from one generation to another Education seeks to socialise individual so as to equip them with the desire mode of behaviour that is in conformity with the way of life of the society in which they live. Education is the process of teaching , training, and learning in schools and colleges for the development of knowledge and skills so as to prepare individual to live happily with themselves and others in the society . Various educator, educationist have offer series of difinations to education according to JOHN SMART 1931 Education includes whatever we do for ourselves and whatever is done for us by others for the express purpose of bringing us to perfection of native . NWAGWA 1976 that 'Education is the process by which every society attempts to preserved and upgrade the accumulated knowledge , skills and attitude in it s cultural setting and heritagei in other to foster continuosly the well being of mankind and gurantee its survival against the unpredictable , at times hostile and destrutive element and forces of man and nature
