A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl after taking shelter in her mom's shop on a rainy day.

Abdul Abdul, 39, was arrested by the Police in Jos, Plateau State.

Abdul, a married father-of-six who lives in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area, allegedly committed the crime on June 8, when he went into the girl's mother's shop to buy water.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, July 13, Abdul claimed what he had with the girl was "sex" not rape. He said he took shelter in the girl's mum's shop after buying 20 Naira sachet water following a break from the building project he was involved in in the house opposite the shop.

He claims that he remained in the shop, discussing with the girl after buying the water.

He said he touched her shoulder and she didn't resist so he went further. He added that she pulled down her trousers herself and encouraged him to ejaculate in her.

He said he ejaculated on her thighs instead and when he was done, she ran out screaming for help, thereby drawing the attention of neighbours.

He added that the girl is someone he knows well as they live on the same street. He also said the act was consensual.

Police are searching for a Louisiana woman who left her boyfriend in a critical condition after she allegedly shot him for refusing to argue with her.

The shooting unfolded early Saturday morning July 18, in the Caddo Heights neighborhood of Shreveport at around 7.30am in the 1400 block of Grigsby Street.

A warrant has now been issued for Jenalisha Lawrence, 29, who has been charged with attempted second-degree murder in the shooting that left her boyfriend in a critical situation.

Authorities at Shreveport Police Department said they were called to the home over report of a shooting and when they arrived they found a 34-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering a gunshot wound to the body.

He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport with life-threatening injuries and he is still listed as in critical condition, according to KXAN.

Witnesses told investigators that Lawrence shot the victim following an interaction in which the man refused to argue with her.

Police say that Lawrence was the man's 'estranged' girlfriend.

She fled the scene in a green Honda Accord with a primer on the left passenger’s side front door.

Police are now searching for her and say she has two addresses in Shreveport but investigators believe she likely fled to the Dallas, Texas area where she is from. Her bond is set at $150,000.

Kanye West held his first political rally on Sunday night and during his speech, he criticized Harriet Tubman, drawing shouts of opposition from the crowd.

Harriet Tubman was born a slave but she escaped slavery to become a leading abolitionist. She helped rescue approximately 70 enslaved people.

Tubman is one of the most respected figures of 19th century America.

However, as US rapper/ presidential aspirant Kanye West was speaking in North Charleston, South Carolina, at his first event since declaring himself a presidential candidate, he ranted against the historical figure.

He said Harriet Tubman “never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people."

Immediately he uttered the statement, the was an uproar. Some people are heard saying, "We leaving right now."

The outrage did not end at his rally. Black people have taken to various social media platforms to call him out for his statement and how it distorts history.



This isn't the first time Kanye has angered Black people with his opinions about racism. Back in May 2018, he said slavery was a "choice".

He said at the time, "When you hear about slavery for 400 years -- for 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. Like you was there for 400 years, and it’s all of y’all? It’s like, we’re mentally imprisoned."

12 Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials have been suspended indefinitely after being quizzed by the Presidential Investigation Committee, headed by Justice Isa Ayo Salami (red).

The new development comes days after 12 directors of the agency were suspended by the Presidency in relation to the ongoing probe of suspended Acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu.

According to reports, some of the directors affected by the suspension had been a part of the team investigating Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).

The agency’s Secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede was suspended while others affected by the suspension include Kabir Latona, Muhammed Abba, Ibrahim Buhari, Rotimi Oyedepo.

Before their suspension, some of the officers were handling sensitive investigations before they received letters notifying them of their suspension from the anti-graft agency on Monday.

A source speaking to TheNation said: “After being in limbo for one week, we got our suspension letters on Monday.

“We were informed that the suspension is indefinite. We have taken it in good faith. But most of us have not received queries in our career.

“We have not even appeared before any disciplinary committee. We appeal to President Mummadu Buhari to intervene by reversing the suspension.”

“It wasn’t a friendly session but we were able to make some clarifications on our performance in office.

“A Coordinator told the committee that service and loyalty to Nigeria guided their conduct in office rather than sentiments.”

The police in Ogun state have arrested two men notorious for stealing motorcycles in the state.

A statement from the state police command spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, says the suspects, Joshua Michael, 27 and Emeka Nwanga, 26, were apprehended on Monday, July 20 with the combined efforts of policemen attached to Ilese-Ijebu Division in Ijebu-Ode.

According to Oyeyemi, the suspects were behind most cases of motorcycle snatching in the Ijebu-Ode and its environs. He said the suspects were arrested when they attempted snatching another motorcycle at Ikangba Estate and a distress call was put across to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Olusesi Kayode, who promptly mobilized his Anti-robbery team to the scene.

"On sighting the policemen, the suspects took to their heels but were hotly chased and apprehended with the help of members of the public.'' the statement read

Oyeyemi added that a motorcycle and a locally-made pistol were recovered from the suspects.

"Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution", the statement concluded.

American clothing company, Gap's stock fell nearly 6% on Monday July 20, following rapper Kanye West's comments he made at a public event Sunday criticizing Gap and Adidas.

In videos shared on social media, West could be seen criticizing GAP and Adidas, another apparel company his Yeezy brand partnered with, saying he would leave both companies unless he is made a board member.

West said he was not on either company's board. "That has to change today or I walk away," he said.

Neither Gap nor Adidas has responded to Kanye's comments.

Gap, announced a 10-year partnership with Yeezy last month for a new line of clothes that are "modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points"

The initial announcement made by Gap and Kanye West sent Gap's shares soaring nearly 19% on June 26.

West has had great success in the fashion space, with his Yeezy company now worth 3 billion dollars.

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has denied having any type of deal with US President Donald Trump, after the social media company refused to toe Twitter's line by fact checking and censoring the president's social media posts.

Zuckerberg's comments come in response to mounting concern over his relationship with the president, which has remained cordial despite worries about the president’s use of social media.

In 2019 Trump hosted Zuckerberg for a secret dinner at the White House. The dinner came just a week after Zuckerberg made a speech confirming that Facebook would not fact-check political ads.



Facebook’s refusal to remove Trump’s response to protests in Minneapolis against racist police violence where he said “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” has cost the company.

There has been employee walkouts and advertiser boycotts because of the company's stance.

“I’ve heard this speculation, too, so let me be clear: There’s no deal of any kind,” said Zuckerberg on Monday while reacting to rumours of him partnering with Trump.

“Actually, the whole idea of a deal is pretty ridiculous.” he added

Roger McNamee, a venture capitalist who was an early investor in Facebook, told The New York Times last month that he believed the two billionaires had a deal or agreement. McNamee said the arrangement was “probably implied rather than explicit” and “highly utilitarian,” but mutually beneficent all the same.

“It’s basically about getting [Facebook] free rein and protection from regulation,” said McNamee. “Trump needs Facebook’s thumb on the scale to win this election.”

According to reports, Trump's decision to encourage mask-wearing was motivated by poor poll numbers, as majority of Americans don't approve of the way he has handled the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to reports, Trump's team tried to get Trump to wear a mask, saying they could have "MAGA", "Trump-Pence 2020" or even the American flag printed on them but he refused and only wore a mask once in public.

His mind changed after a meeting with campaign aides at the White House last week, where they bluntly told him poll numbers showed Americans didn't approve of his Coronavirus response.

"We are United in our effort to defeat the Invisible China Virus, and many people say that it is Patriotic to wear a face mask when you can't socially distance," Trump tweeted on Monday night , three months after the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended wearing masks in public.

"There is nobody more Patriotic than me, your favorite President!" he added.

The picture Trump tweeted, shows Trump wearing a mask with the presidential seal at his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center earlier this month -- his first and only time he was seen wearing one.


Before Trump's change of mind, he was reluctant because he didn't want to give in to media pressure.

On a trip to a Ford plant in May, Trump said he wore a mask on parts of the plant tour where reporters were not allowed, saying he "didn't want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it."

Remember in April during a press Trump suggested that it wouldn't seem presidential to don a mask.
"(S)omehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful Resolute Desk ... I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens. I don't know, somehow I don't see it for myself. Maybe I'll change my mind," Trump said at the time.

Nigeria recorded 562 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, July 20.

According to the statistics reeled out by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, the Federal Capital Territory Abuja had the highest cases of 102, Lagos-100, Plateau-52, Kwara-50, Abia-47, Kaduna-35, Benue-34, Oyo-26, Ebonyi-24, Kano-16, Niger-15, Anambra-14, Gombe-12, Edo-11, Rivers-6, Nasarawa-5, Delta-5, Borno-3, Enugu- 2, Bauchi-2, and Kebbi- 1.

Nigeria now has a total of 37, 225 confirmed cases of the viral disease.

15,333 patients have been discharged while 801 deaths have been recorded.

Ghanaian Social media sensation, Shatta Bandle is in mourning as he has lost his father, Alhaji Idrissu, Monday, July 20.

Shatta Bandle confirmed the news of his loss on his Snapchat.

Reports gathered that his father has been ill for some time but was receiving treatment until he passed away on Monday morning.

Shatta Bandle’s father came up on social media for the first time after the Instagram star shared a photo describing him as lovely.

The self-acclaimed Africa’s richest billionaire mourned late Alhaji Idrissu as he shared a photo of him as captioned;

“RIP to my real father, dead today.”
