Education by Kaffy2001(f) : 6:12 pm On Jan 03, 2021

Education in Nigeria is fast declining
The educational system in this country is very poor it makes me sad to see our supposed future leaders without good educational background. What then are our children going to know? The situation of this country very saddening.

Eyo festival in Lagos. by Kaffy2001(f) : 6:40 pm On Jan 03, 2021

Among the Yorubas, the indigenous religions have largely lost the greater majority of their traditional followers to Christianity and Islam. Be that as it may, the old festivals are still almost universally observed as tourist attractions which generate a lot of revenue for government and small businesses around the Lagos Island venue of the Eyo festival. It is during these occasions that their traditional monarchs and nobles exercise the most of their residual power.
A full week before the festival (always a Sunday), the ‘senior’ eyo group, the Adimu (identified by a black, broad-rimmed hat), goes public with a staff. When this happens, it means the event will take place on the following Saturday. Each of the four other Eyo groups — Laba (Red), Oniko (yellow), Ologede (Green) and Agere (Purple) — take their turns in that order from Monday to Thursday respectively.
We were made to understand that Eyo was brought to celebrate an in-law which is now a popularly celebrated festival now in Lagos till date.

No plans to impose another lock down -lai mohammed by Kaffy2001(f) : 5:32 pm On Jan 06, 2021

No Plans To Impose Fresh Lockdown
The Federal Government has stated that it has no plans to impose a fresh lockdown. This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Monday as the country currently is battling a second wave of the virus.
The minister called for strict compliance with all protocols outlined by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
The minister said, “On the issue of lockdown, I don’t think there is any time when the Federal Government has said it is going to have a second lockdown. However, the Federal Government is very unhappy that Nigerians are not adhering to the basic Covid-19 protocols of wearing face masks, or practicising social distancing, of washing hands, of ensuring that they do gather in large numbers.

“If we do not do these, the surge will continue and with the new strain of Covid-19 which is becoming much more difficult to handle than the old strain, the Federal Government will continue to insist and encourage Nigerians to please obey the Covid-19 protocols.

What happens to your body when you exercise. by Kaffy2001(f) : 5:37 pm On Jan 06, 2021

Your temperature rises. Muscles need energy in order to workout, so your body burns calories from the fats and carbohydrates that you eat in a series of chemical reactions that produce heat.
Your heart gets stronger. Exercise increases your heart rate and helps pump more blood through your system, which is also what raises your core temperature. Regular exercise makes your heart stronger and more efficient. Over time it reduces your resting heart rate by 5-25 beats per minute.
Endorphins are released. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins then interact with the receptors in your brain to reduce your perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger a happy feeling within your body that are accompanied by a more positive outlook on life.
Brain function improves. Getting your heart rate up improves blood flow to the brain, which helps your brain immediately function better. Studies found that exercising increases the size of the hippocampus, which is associated with memory and learning. Therefore, regular exercise helps prevent the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Build healthy eating habits by Kaffy2001(f) : 5:47 pm On Jan 06, 2021

Maintain or work toward a healthy weight.
Be physically active every day—return fun and play to your life. Get moderate to vigorous physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week.
Healthy eating provides the sustained energy you need to be physically active.
Learn to manage your stress with exercise, healthy eating, relaxation, and good coping skills.
Build Healthy Eating Habits
Eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark green, red, and orange vegetables (3 or more servings a day).
Eat a variety of fruits (2 or more servings a day).
Eat whole-grain, high-fiber breads and cereals (3 to 6 servings a day). Reduce or eliminate refined or processed carbohydrates; most of the grains in your diet should be whole grains.
Drink fat-free or low-fat milk and eat low-fat dairy products.
Choose from a variety of low-fat sources of protein — including eggs, beans, poultry without skin, seafood, lean meats, unsalted nuts, seeds, and soy products. If you eat meat, eat white meat at least four times more often than red meat.
Reduce intake of saturated fats and trans-fats as much as possible.
Use vegetable oils (like olive or canola oil) instead of solid fats.
Reduce daily intake of salt or sodium. Reduce to less than 1,500 mg. per day if you are older than 50, or have hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney disease.
Restrict or eliminate "junk food" — foods that contain refined white flour, solid fats or trans fats, added sugars, and are high in sodium.
Restrict or eliminate sodas and other sugar-added drinks that are high in calories and contain few or no nutrients.
If you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation. Drink only when it doesn't put you or anyone else at risk.
