As an upline, it is your duty and responsibility to help a downline understand how the company's products or services works. The only role the network marketing company has to play is to provide the opportunity for individuals to achieve their dreams, and not to do the business on behalf of the distributors.

A downline can only grow his business faster only when he understands the compensation plan better. When he doesn't understand the compensation plan, he may struggle with the business. 3. Work On Their Belief
So many people join the network marketing business with the lottery mentality. They sign up because they think when they talk to that pastor, that doctor, their brother and that their colleague in the office, they will join them in business, and this will make them (your downlines) a millionaire. When they talk to the few people that they have as a mental list and they do not join them as they hope, frustration sets in and the downline begins to doubt if he can actually make the money we are talking about in this business.
Working on their belief means changing their mindset and attitude towards network marketing business. Expose your downlines to those who have built a fortune from this profession, both past and present. Sometimes, inviting other leaders in your company to come talk to your dowlines can also help change their mindset about the business.

In conclusion, as an upline, you are a leader, a mentor and a teacher. Do not keep signing up distributor after distributor without providing them with any initial help, support and strategy on how to grow their business. Losing a downline will mean losing a million dollar because, one downline can bring in many other people into your team which will contribute greatly to the exponential growth of your business.
