Re: Police recover skeletal remains of Rivers monarch kidnapped two years ago by Davose(m) : 6:39 am On Oct 28, 2021

atoluwash:
May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
The Rivers State Police Command has recovered the remains of Chief Robert Namene Loolo, the Paramount Ruler of Luuwa community in NyoKhana District of Khana LGA, who was abducted in 2019.

The decomposed body of Chief Robert Loolo,61, was exhumed at a creek linking Luwa, Bera, and Bane Communities on Monday, October 25, by the DPO of Bori Police Station, Inspector Gbako Amgbasim and his team.

It was gathered that the monarch was abducted from his residence on the 27th of June 2019, by irate youths of the community.

The deceased son, Dr Douglas Fabeke, told reporters that ransom was paid twice to secure his father’s release from his captors.

Fabeke said that his father was tortured and tied to a stick inside the creek and left to die without help.

"He was kidnapped from his house by a youths group in the community who were fighting over the position of a youth president. We tried to beg these youths to release him for us; we had to pay ransom twice,"he said.

"We reported the matter to the police and to all the security agencies in the state; they got involved and tried to make sure he was released but after some time, there was silence. We went into more action and after about a few months; we were able to arrest a native doctor who confessed that he had been killed but did not know where he was buried

"Ever since we have been on this issue, but two months ago, we renewed effort through intelligence gathering to make sure we locate where he was buried, and by the grace of God, today, we were able to mobilise forces from the Bori divisional police headquarters, with a combined team, and they stormed the forest.

"We were able to discover where he was buried. Everything to identify him with was there, we noticed he was tortured. He was tied to a tree.”

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident said that the deceased remains were recovered by police operatives.

Another son of the deceased, Barine Eric Loolo described his father as a good man with generous and kind heart.

He wrote;

"27/06/2019 was like a mirage to me until the reality of 25/10/2021. The shock, trauma and the emotional antecedents are something I cannot fathom

"However, I am encouraged by the fact that my Father, Chief Robert Namene Loolo, Paramount Ruler of Luuwa community was a good man with generous and kind heart. I will forever be proud of him for the man he was.

"He never offended anyone to have suffered this kind of degrading treatment by his abductors. Kidnapped, obtained ransom from the family twice but what we got in return is contained in the back herein attached. What can be more devastating than this

In all, we give glory to God, knowing that from dust we came and to dust we shall all return. No one has the monopoly of this world. We shall all return one day but men should be allowed to return in a natural way and not in this barbaric way

I thank you all for your prayers and consolations at this doleful moment. I thank the Nigeria Police especially the Bori Division for the steps taken so far. It is well with us."

Re: Senate rejects Health Ministry's proposal to borrow N82 billion to buy mosquito by Davose(m) : 6:56 am On Oct 28, 2021

atoluwash: This mosquito net is needed for the prevention of malaria. By Davose.

The Nigerian Senate has condemned a proposal by the Federal Ministry of Health to borrow $200 million (N82,070,388,916.76) under the malaria program to buy mosquito nets in the 2022 budget.

A member of the Senate Committee on Health, Gershom Bassey on Tuesday, October 26, opposed the move by the Ministry during the 2022 budget defence of the Federal Ministry of Health.

Bassey told the Permanent Secretary, Mahmuda Mamman that the proposal with respect to borrowing $200 million (about N82 billion at the official exchange rate of N410 to a dollar) to purchase mosquito nets was outrageous considering the amount involved.

The Committee’s condemnation was in response to the Permanent Secretary’s earlier submission of the intention to borrow the said amount for the purchase of mosquito nets.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Faisal Shuaib had said the $200 million was for importation and local production of mosquito nets.

Re: Afenifere tells Buhari to ignore Gumi and declare bandits terrorists by Davose(m) : 7:04 am On Oct 28, 2021

atoluwash: FGN should ignore the advice of Gumi and declare bandits terrorists. By Davose.

Afenifere The pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, has told President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore the statement made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi and declare bandits as terrorists.

Gumi had recently warned President Buhari against declaring bandits as terrorists. He said doing so will come at a price.

Gumi advised Buhari to, instead, grant amnesty to the bandits killing and kidnapping citizens in the north and other parts of the country. Gumi also claimed that the bandits are simply fighting for their rights.

Reacting, Afenifere called on Buhari and the Federal Government to ignore Gumi's advice.

The group insisted that bandits should not only be declared terrorists but should also be given the treatment terrorists deserve.

Afenifere spoke through a communiqué signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, at the end of its October meeting, held at the residence of its Acting Leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo in Sanya-Ogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The Yoruba leaders lamented that insurgency, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities had continued to fester in spite of claims by the government that it was winning the war against insecurity.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the way the government at the centre had been tackling insecurity, Afenifere said it joined the National Assembly and several others on the call that "those who have been kidnapping and killing the people be declared as terrorists and be treated as such."

The group described as unfortunate, the attitude of the authorities on the issue of security, regretting that the government "has not succeeded in stemming the increasing spate of insecurity in the country."

On the contrary, Afenifere said bandits and terrorists were "getting emboldened to perpetuate their nefarious activities."

While stating that it was ironic that some individuals were seeking clemency for terrorists, the group emphasised that "whoever deodorizes or abets evil is culpable."

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi The Ooni of Ife, has disclosed what Buhari told him during their meeting in January this year and how he advised Sunday Igboho based on that but the Yoruba Nation agitator chose to listen to wrong advisers.

Oba Ogunwusi said that after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, he had advised Sunday Igboho over his actions.

He said Igboho failed to listen to the president’s warning due to wrong advice from people. He added that rather than listen, Igboho insulted the traditional rulers advising him.

The Ooni of Ife said Igboho won’t be facing the current travail, if he had listened to the warning.

The monarch made the revelation in an interview with BBC Yoruba.

The Ooni of Ife said: "Many people advised him wrongly. He listened to them. He started abusing everyone, including monarchs.

"After I left President Buhari’s place, I called on monarchs and elders of Yoruba land for a meeting to advise Igboho to exercise patience but he got carried away by the praises of those who were not even solidly behind him.

"He hurled so many bad words but he is still our son. God owns forgiveness. We’ve forgiven him. If he had listened, he wouldn’t have found himself in his current travail."

Igboho is currently locked up in Benin Republic after his attempt to travel to Germany was foiled.

Re: Queen Elizabeth will no longer do solo royal events after recent health scare by Davose(m) : 9:48 am On Oct 28, 2021

jadoo51: Queen is aged let her take a rest. By Davose.

Queen of the United Kingdom Queen Elizabeth II will reportedly no longer do solo official events following her recent health scare.

The 95-year-old monarch who “reluctantly” canceled a trip to Northern Ireland last week in order to stay overnight in a London hospital for “preliminary tests” on unspecified health issues, will be accompanied by one of her children or grandchildren in official events moving forward.

The Telegraph reported that though the Queen was back on "light duties" from home in Windsor Castle a day after her hospitalization, the royal family has begun working on a new model to ensure that she is always accompanied by a senior royal, such as her son Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla, in future public engagements.

With the new arrangement, Queen Elizabeth would get the chance to rest if needed without disappointing the public with a complete royal no-show, according to the outlet.

Queen Elizabeth's grandson Prince William, the second in line to the British throne, and his wife Kate Middleton are "both keen to provide any support they can," an unnamed source told the outlet.

An insider added;

"If there is any way they can support Her Majesty on her engagements, they will."

The Times of London reported that the monarch did not attend a church service on Sunday, October 24. Her attendance at other upcoming events remains uncertain as doctors have ordered her to rest.

But an unnamed source told U.K.'s The Times that "it's not uncommon for Her Majesty to be accompanied by family members."

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the Telegraph's report about the new plan. The palace did not disclose what the "preliminary tests" were for, but it was confirmed that her overnight stay in the hospital was not related to COVID-19 and instead was said to be for practical reasons, the BBC reported.

Re: 'My heart is with Halyna's family... and my Alec' - Hilaria Baldwin by Davose(m) : 11:36 am On Oct 28, 2021

jadoo51: That was a big loss. Take heart. By Davose.

American yoga instructor, entrepreneur, podcaster, and author Hilaria Baldwin, the wife of actor, Alec Baldwin, has paid tribute to Halyna Hutchins, the woman her husband accidentally killed on-set of his new movie Rust.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Hilaria wrote: 'My heart is with Halyna. Her husband. Her son. Their family and loved ones. And my Alec.

'It's said "there are no words" because it's impossible to express the shock and heartache of such a tragic accident. Heartbreak. Loss. Support.'

Alec, 63, accidentally killed the 42-year-old cinematographer and wounded director Joel Souza on the set of their movie Rust in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Thursday, October 21.

Baldwin was rehearsing drawing his gun across his body when it went off. He thought the gun was loaded with blanks, after being told 'cold gun' as Assistant Director Dave Halls gave it to him.

There are now questions over how live ammunition made its way onto the set.

David Halls, the assistant director of Rust, the Western movie Baldwin was acting in and producing is being blamed for the shooting.

Search warrants reveal that Halls, and everyone else on the set, was unaware the gun he handed Baldwin contained live ammunition.

He had declared it a 'cold' weapon, meaning it was loaded only with blanks.

One crew member, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of being blacklisted, told DailyMail.com that he’d worked with Halls on two similarly low-budget sets in Los Angeles in spring 2019, one where a revolver and Glock were used, and another involving shotgun.

Each morning they’d have a meeting to discuss the weapons and other safety issues, an industry standard. But he said Halls didn’t think they were needed.

'He was very flippant about my insistence on having a safety meeting about the weapons, on both of the sets,' said the crew member, who asked to use the pseudonym “Jay” and has worked on films for 10 years.

'He would rush through it and say, alright guys, be safe, let’s get to work.'

'Even though the guns were not loaded, you have to treat it as if it always is,' he said. “And for me, that means doing a safety meeting that may be seen as unnecessary but should absolutely be done so that everyone is on the same page.”

'Systemically, so much pressure is put on the first assistant directors to meet a schedule, to ‘make the day,’ meaning to get all the work done that you already have scheduled for the day,' he continued.

'When it comes to safety on set, or having to wait for anything because safety takes time, I have seen 1st ADs get annoyed for having to wait.

'But they ultimately understand it needs to be done. But when I worked with him, it was the only time I’ve had any AD ask me, "Do we really need to have a safety meeting?"'

atoluwash: Let him regain consciously so he can face the law. By Davose.

The police in Ebonyi state has arrested a 40-year-old man, Chibuike Ochie, for killing his sister-in-law, younger sister and a hired labourer.

According to reports, the suspect was said to have gone beserk, invaded the farmland wherein the deceased persons were farming at Uburu community, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the State and launched an attack on them on Sunday, October 24. He tried to escape was caught by irate youths of the area who mobbed him. The police said he's currently in the hospital on life support.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, Loveth Odah, said investigations were still on to ascertain exactly what caused the attack and killing of the three persons.

''It was reported that by 1640hrs of 24th of October, 2021, when the family of Ochie were in the farm including a hired labourer that was farming for them on that particular day. One of their brothers, Chibuike Ochie, went into the farm and suddenly started macheting them.

He succeeded in macheting Ogechi Ochie 32 years old who was said to be the wife of the elder brother and the younger sister Margaret Ochie, 35 years old and the said labourer. The three of them were macheted to death on that farm and he escaped.

In the process of fleeing the scene, irate youths of that area caught and mobbed him. As I’m talking to you now, he is still critically sick to the extent that he is living on a life support machine.

Investigation is still on, but it will be properly ongoing when this man survives.

That is why we keep discouraging the youth from taking laws into their hands especially when a person committed offence like this. If they brought the person to us, he would have told us the reasons he had to do this to his family members and he would have faced the law. But in this case, a lot of money is being spent to revive this person.

The incident took place at Obegu farm in Uburu. According to the DPO who visited the place, he said the farmland is about 25km away from Uburu town.”

Re: Manchester United ''accept Paul Pogba’s decision'' to leave the club on a free by Davose(m) : 11:26 pm On Oct 28, 2021

jadoo51: ManUtd fans will miss you.

Manchester United has reportedly accepted that Paul Pogba will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The France World Cup winner has entered the final year of his contract and has so far failed to agree on a new deal with United.

Real Madrid, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain have all expressed an interest in signing Pogba.

According to ESPN, United’s hierarchy has felt for several months that Pogba would not sign a new contract and are now resigned to losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The report claims that United will not be looking to secure a transfer fee for Pogba by selling him in the January window, and are planning to keep the 28-year-old for the remainder of the season.

United are also said to be already making plans for Pogba’s departure and will strengthen their midfield options next summer.

When asked about Pogba’s future this week, the midfielder’s agent Mino Raiola said: ‘You would have to ask Manchester United about it.

‘At this moment everything is calm. There is no update.’

Pogba, who returned to United in an £89 million deal from Juventus in 2016, has struggled to find consistency during his second stint at Old Trafford.

The France international started on the bench for United’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, October 24, and was sent off in the 60th minute after he came in at halftime.

The bombshell admission was disclosed is in a search warrant that was unsealed by the Sante Fe County Sheriff's department and issued on Wednesday afternoon.

It contains details of Halls' interview with the cops, and what Hannah Gutierrez-Reed told them too.

Halls said Gutierrez-Reed, 24, handed him the weapon and ordinarily opens it, 'spins the drum' to show him the ammo and he declares it safe.

On Thursday, he said he 'couldn't remember if she spun the weapon, and that he could only remember seeing three dummy bullets, identified by a hole in the side of their cartridge.

'David said when Hannah showed him the firearm before continuing rehearsal, he could only remember seeing three rounds.

'He advised he should have checked them all but didn't and couldn't recall if she spun the drum,' the search warrant says.

Baldwin was handed the gun and it fired in the direction of Halyna Hutchins and Joel Souza. Hutchins died and Souza was hospitalized.

Afterward, Halls brought the gun back to Gutierrez-Reed and told her to open it for him. They then realized there were four dummy rounds and one spent live round.

'After the accident, Halls picked up the firearm from a pew inside the church and took it to the armorer. Hannah then was told to open the gun so he could see what was inside.

'He said he could only remember seeing at least four dummy casings with the hole in the side, and one without the hole.

'He said this round did not have the "cap" on it and was just the casing. David advised the incident was not a deliberate act,' the search warrant reads.

The warrant also describes how Hannah Gutierrez-Reed said there never being 'any live rounds' on set.

'Hannah advised that she checked the 'dummies' and ensured "they were not hot rounds".

'She said as the crew broke for lunch, the firearms were taken back and secured inside a safe on a prop truck on set.

'During lunch, she said the ammo was left on a cart on the set and not secured.

'After lunch, [property manager] Sarah Zachary pulled the firearms out of the safe inside the truck and handed them to her.

'She advised there are only a few people that have access and the combination to the safe.

'Hannah advised that she handed the gun to Alec Baldwin a couple of times, and also handed it to David Halls.

'Hannah said no live ammo is ever kept on set.'

The revelation comes less than an hour after prosecutors revealed 'no one has been ruled out when it comes to criminal charges.

At the press conference on Wednesday, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza said all three could face charges and are still being interviewed.

'We're going to continue interviewing getting the facts... he is an active part of this investigation we're still investigating... no one has been ruled out,' Mendoza said.

District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said it was too early to bring charges but 'all options are on the table at this point.'

Mendoza revealed the gun Baldwin fired was a Pietta .45 long colt revolver. There was other ammunition in the gun when they recovered it but it's unclear what type of ammunition that was.

The bullet that killed Hutchins was taken from Souza's shoulder and is a lead bullet. It is being taken to the FBI lab in Quantico for more examination, and officers have recovered its spent shell casing.

The 500 rounds recovered from the movie set comprise or 'blanks, dummies and live rounds.' Sheriffs would not say how many of each were recovered, or how the live rounds got to set.

'We suspect other live rounds were filmed on this set. I won't comment on how they got there, but we suspect they are there. There was some complacency on this set and there were safety issues,' Mendoza said.

According to a search warrant executed by the Santa Fe County Sheriff's office last week, Gutierrez-Reed was the last person to handle the gun, leaving it along with the two other revolvers unattended on the cart in the early hours of October 21.

It is at this point, the insider reveals, that a group of crew members took the weapons without the director and first director's knowledge, and forgot to unload the firearm in question.
