Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe code-named Wande Coal was born 18 October 1985 in Lagos Island, Lagos state, Nigeria, to Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Mrs Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. He is the initial child from a family of two . His passion for music came into existence in his early age while he was still in secondary school. Coal completed his primary school education at Staff Nursery and Ijaniki Primary School and proceeded to Federal Government College Lagos in Lagos State for his high school education. Following the completion of his secondary school, he enrolled into University of Lagos (Unilag), Lagos State, where he obtained a degree in Curriculum Studies. Career Beginning And Rise To Stardom

Just like i said earlier on this biography, Wande Coal officially started singing at his early age where he used to rehearse in the teenage choir at his church. He didn't start his entertainment career as a dancer. He is fondly called Wande, a.k.a. Captain Mushin. He gained recognition as a dacer before he later switched to singing . The singer continued improving on his vocals skills and got signed to Don Jazzy‘s Mo’hits records in 2006. Coal was featured on D'banj's Rundown/Funk you up album on singles such as "Loke", "tonosibe" and "why me". He gradually became the people's favorite as Mo’hits records was the biggest label in the country those days just like Mavin record is taking the lead today. As a member of Mo' Hits allstars , Coal played a major role in the released CV (Curriculum Vitae) album. Coal's debut single of the CV album, "Ololufe", has been described as one of the greatest love songs ever written by a Nigerian. He released his first album titled "Mushin To Mo’Hits" and it was well received across Nigeria, UK and the USA. The album was well rated by music critics and It was said to be one of the best album ever released in the country.


Wande Coal has been said to be the most versatile Nigerian singer and he has worked with several big guns in the Nigerian Music Industry. Some of the big names he was teamed up with include Phyno Phino, ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Wizkid, D’banj, Don Jazzy and many more. The label Executives of Mo' Hits started having issues in 2012 which led to the disbanding of the music group. Jazzy and D'banj, Coal, Dr SID and D'Prince signed on to Don Jazzy's new Record Label Mavin Records with the addition of Tiwa Savage from 323 entertainment acting as the first lady of Mavin records.

Wande Coal had a fallout with the label owner and disconnected with the label to pursue his solo career . He left Mavin Records in 2013 and released his first song “Baby Face” as a stand alone singer in October 2013. For some years, Wande Coal was missing in action but came back after the long hiatus and released his debut album "Wanted". The highly anticipated album placed him on the map again and it has been rise, rise and rise for the singer since then
