Early Life And Education Background


Rotimi Amaechi was born on 27 May 1965 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State to the family of late Elder Fidelis Amaechi and Mrs Mary Amaechi. When he was birthed, he was named Igbo name , his initial name means “God is strength or power” while the last one is “who knows tomorrow” . Rotimi was bred in Diobu, a densely populated neighbourhood in Port Harcourt.


He had his first taste of education at St Theresa's Primary School from 1970 to 1976 and later earned his West African Senior School Certificate in 1982 from Government Secondary School Okolobiri. After obtaining his WAEC certificate which is a prerequisite for entering into the University, he then proceeded to University of Port Harcourt in 1987 where he bagged Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in English Studies and Literature.


Political Career And Success


Rotimi Amaechi debut political office was when he was appointed as the new Secretary of the now defunct National Republican Convention in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. After holding that offfice for some years, he also served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Sir (Dr.) Peter Odili, and a member of the Board of West Africa Glass Industry as well as Risonpalm Nigeria Limited.
