A man was arrested and charged with the shooting to death of Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21, the cousin of superstar singer Rihanna.

According to the information gathered, 23-year-old Shawayne Dashawn Williams was charged with murder in the death of Alleyne during his initial court appearance on Wednesday. Williams has been remanded in prison and will next appear earlier in court on Jan. 31.

Alleyne was walking near his house at around 7 p.m. on Dec. 26, when he had been approached by a man who shot him a few times before fleeing the scene, authorities said. Alleyne was hurried to the hospital before dying of the injuries.

Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, 21 was killed a day after he spent the Christmas celebration with Rihanna.

The singer that posted series of photos of her cousin while mourning him last year, has since called for the stoppage of gun violence in the country.
