A Somali man was imprisoned for life in Italy for raping, killing and raping migrants for enjoyment at a desert camp that he helped to operate in Libya.

Matammud murdered at least 13 people rather than four as previously believed, the Milan court said on Friday.
Matammud raped dozens of girls, a number of them women. His offenses couldn't be justified by "his traumatic experiences" because his attorneys had attempted to assert, the court stated.
Matammud was seen by his victims in a migrant center in Milan after travelling to Europe to claim asylum. He had been rescued from being lynched on the spot by Italian authorities.



"At a 40-year profession I have never seen anything as dreadful," explained Ilda Boccassini, among those judges, that has resisted infamous mafia murderers.

Seventeen of the Somali victims advised the court that he had tortured them with electric shocks and metallic sticks, defeated them with stones and raped the girls.
