20-year-old medical student from India has been crowned Miss World 2017 after beating fierce competition to take home the coveted title.

Chhillar was clearly surprised with by her triumph, as television coverage of the event showed.
After scooping the top prize, Manushi tweeted: "Thank you, everybody, for your constant love, prayers and support!"
She included: This one's for #India."

It's been 17 years since the country has won the title, according to the Miss India Twitter accounts, and the sixth time an Indian girl has been crowned the winner.

Miss World 2017 was the 67th edition of the Miss World pageant that was held on 18 November 2017 at the Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China. 118 contestants from all around the world competed for the crown.

Meanwhile, Miss Nigeria, Ugochi Ihezue won the Top Model Competition and became the second quarter-finalist of Miss World 2017. while Kenya’s Magline Jerulo was the only African contestant in the top 5 placement.

It will be noted that in 2001 Agbani Darego of Nigeria became the first native African to win Miss World competition and after her, no other Africans that has won the crown.
